Why Was That Deleted?
July 6, 2002 | happytobealive

Posted on 07/06/2002 3:32:36 PM PDT by happytobealive

Re: Men vs. Women post of a few minutes ago.

This was generating a huge response, which seems to indicate that it was an important topic.

Why isn't the reasoning for deletions made clear so that we know the ground rules better and can try and persuade the moderators when they seem to error?

Except I'm not. I just know better than expect much from men. They're okay to work with, and better to talk to than most women, but the maturity isn't there.

Wait - that sounds almost like a bias!

"But guess what: I moved on. I don't blame the shortcomings in my life on someone else. I work to fix them MYSELF. How novel. Some of these whiny guys could try it."

Hear hear! Most adults have had at least ONE relationship which went nuclear. Heck, after 11 years of marriage and a five year custody battle, I'm surprised to have gotten through it with my SANITY (AND my kids, finally)....if not my pocketbook.

That's no reason for me to blame ALL men, SUMMARILY for what ONE MAN did. That kind of thinking is insane, for men as well as women, and will only make anyone who believes it bitter and lonely.....in the end, thinking that way hurts no one but THE THINKER.

Well part of the problem is that in a forum like this where people can post somewhat anonymously, people feel free to say things that they would never say in polite company. I am guilty of that sometimes myself. Once in a while, I'll come across an old post of mine and I'll say to myself "I posted that!" I think sometimes that the best improvement that could be made to Free Republic would be the ability to go back and remove your own posts. Because things are often said in the heat of the moment and with a typing speed of 65wpm or higher, sometimes my keyboard runs ahead of my brain!

BTW, I type like a secretary because I took two years of typing in high school in an unsuccessful attempt to pick up girls. I was one of only two or three boys in the class and man, did I ever take flack from my classmates for being in typing class. I guess all the girls in class must have thought we were gay or something too. But I do like to type and got straight "A"s both years, which helped to push my GPA up.

Guess who got the farm, the furniture, the electronics, the expensive crystal, the stocks?

sorry that happened to you; that was not fair or right.
most women and men who do get clobbered in domestic issues move on; you have been able to do so through perseverance and work.
some, both men and women, get stuck with burdens which are unfair and unjust. This is what we try to address. if we're not making sense, and in a good way, we're not doing a very good job....

Exactly. To say that the US domestic court system is hopelessly flawed and screws men regularly is NOT whining. It is merely stating easily verifiable fact.

What do you think there reasoning is?

Once they've had a chance to think about it, why wouldn't they want to discuss it in a group forum?

Pretty much.. Of course, good luck explaining that to people who post one whine thread after another demanding that everyone just shut up and go away.

(logic isn't their strong point, obviously.. )

Yes I am the one who rules_the_world.

Well then...I have a few complaints.

First off...Tutti Fruitti ice cream is impossible to find anymore.

And what the hell happened to those really cool tablets you'd drop into a glass of water and they'd fizz and flavor it?

Importing a third world woman because you cannot communicate with your female peers is just long-contract prostitution until she can get papers to stay in this country permanently. I've heard this story from ***guys***.

I knew a lot of ***guys*** who married women from the PI and from Korea who were in very happy, very stable, and very long-term marriages.

But that's my experience.

Just curious - when you say "peers," do you actually mean "coworkers"? In what situations would you consider a woman to be a man's peer?

Men who cannot establish relationships with home-grown women tend to import. Sorry, but that is how it works.

Yeah, I guess it had nothing to do with the fact that they were living in Korea or the PI.

I agree. It has been posted many times that we are all just words on a screen and not real people. I think some people agree with that, it takes away the guilt of being nasty to others.

Instead of being nasty I keep a little list of who is naughty and nice and who I don't respond to. My time is precious and I do not suffer fools gladly.

On the other hand I have met some of the most fascinating people here. People who I greatly admire and who I have a great deal in common with. I travel the country and in my travels have also met selected Freepers and have been very happy to have them as friends. As I said early, this is a cross section of society, but since most of us have like values, I expect a little higher dialogue.

But then again it is Saturday night, and since I am no longer allowed to post threads like " What is your pirate name", this will have to do.

Remember what the "Marriage Strike" thread was about . It concerned an article credited to the Philadelphia Inquirer -- a very commie lib publication -- but also carried by Worldnetdaily.com saying we men are not getting married due to the fear of mistreatment in family courts.

I have no experience with family courts but I suspect there is a degree of truth to the article's central point.

How many screen names have you had here?

I've had 3 screen names:

"Glum": About 6 months ago I used this for one evening and then forgot the password.

"Trying": I used this for an hour yesterday morning and was kicked off for not documenting my charge against a public figure. I agreed with the moderator in that case, and am repentant.

Why do you ask?

There are many threads we all used to love, but alas they are considered a waste of bandwidth.

So Nigella Lawson and I will just sit around and make a glorious bernaise for our filets, and then finish with poached pears on fresh vanilla ice cream. STYLE channel, 8 and 11 pm.
