"The 536 A.D. event may have contibuted to the barbarian migrations and their success in overrunning the indigenous peoples." No doubt. It got real cold up north.

Don't worry, he's pretty far down the ladder. Prince Charles is next. :^)

"1300 - 500 = 800. About right. 1300 + ~700 = ~2000. Uh oh."
The astronomers in some of these linked articles say that the next best chance for a (somewhat predictable) comet swarm is about the year 3,000.

Here's what they said:
"The calculations for the Taurids suggest that we pass through the core of the meteor stream approximately every 2,500 years - today, we are passing through the outer edges. The last two occasions when we passed through the core were in 2200 - 2000 BC and in AD 400 - 600. The epoch around AD 3000 looks like being a fun time too - the Y2K doomsayers can always say they just got the millennium wrong."

Yes but there were still events every 600-700 years.

"So it averaged 600-700 years 4 times in a row but it's going to take a 2500 year break between 500 A.D. and 3000 A.D.?" Read the article that is linked in post #57 and I think you'll understand.

It seems we should have an increase in activity any time now. More activity than average, anyway.

"It seems we should have an increase in activity any time now. More activity than average, anyway." No, no. Add 540 + 2500 = 3,040AD. (We will be back in the center of the Taurids then)

Do you agree that the prefix McXxxx in Irish and Scottish names originates from an Egyptian word Meka(sp?) meaning "king"? Could but I keep on coming back to the religious differences. The Celtic religion is so opposite from the Judaic philosophy. Of course, according to the Bible, Northern Tribes had become very pagan which was why the Assyrian were allowed to overrun them. Those who still followed JHVH would have fled south to Judah where worship continued if not with the same fervor as before. After the conquest it would have been possible for what remained to be totally stamped out.
The Assyrian and Celtic religions do share a few traits such as a triune or three faced god and goddess and some rather interesting fertility rituals but how much direct relationship there is between the two is not totally clear.

>after stopping off in Egypt at the Babylonian captivity.
Ooops, Wrong direction. The Babylonian captivity was in Babylon, Mesopotamia.
To: LostTribe
Actually he is right. During the Babylonian Captivity after the fall of Jerusalem a group of Jews fled to Egypt and took Jeremiah along with them.

"True. I think Jeremiah brought the 3 daughters (the tender twigs - the princesses) of the king (whose sons were killed) and the Hebrew artifacts to Ireland after stopping off in Egypt at the Babylonian captivity." Does anyone have a date or an estimated date of their arrival in Ireland?

Yes, you are correct. I was thinking of the main group and "The Captivity". And yes, the smaller group did continue on to Spain and Ireland.

Sometime after 588 BC. But I think Baruch wrote that Jeremiah died in Egypt. Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
