Yup. Smuggling drugs *out* of jail. Real successful anti-drug war y'all have going on there.

Something does appear to have gone horribly wrong.

Cigarettes, which are nearly contraband on the outside and illegal inside many state prison systems, are said to be "coin of the realm" in most joints. Is that another dismal failure? Shall we all rip our wrists open and let these wastrels out to simply "follow their own path" no matter where it might take them and no matter who it might hurt? Give up fighting cancer too?

With a search warrant in hand, Leinfelder continued his search and reported finding drugs.

With a search warrant in one of his hands.

Huh?

People that hurt other people should be put away, or put down.

I'm no fan of drugs or druggies, and I am not pro-legalization of all drugs. But there is something that all of us need to recognize: that the drug war is eventually going to cost all of us our freedom. It is going to take our guns, our privacy, and the constitution down with it. There is no other way to "win" the drug war. And the funny thing is, we still won't win.

I am particularly amused by this story because I've often used the example that we can't even keep drugs out of *prisons*. You'd think with the level of control and loss of rights inside a prison, they'd at least be able to win the war there. We can't.

...and by the way: Why give up fighting cancer? At least there we're making lots of progress.

I keep hearing from "people in the know" that you can get anything, repeat anything in the joint.
