Actually, I believe she is an example of one of the rare cases where someone is chromosomally a different gender than physiologically. It can go the other direction as well, where a man by any other standard has female chromosomes. In other words, it is possible to be an essentially perfect specimen of one gender while having the chromosomes of the opposite gender at a cellular level. Since these things are undetectable through standard medical procedures, most people don't find out unless they get some type of analysis of their chromosomes. It is most frequently discovered when doing fertility tests (I believe such people are sterile); most people with this condition go through their lives not knowing that their physiology doesn't match their chromosomes.
