Holiday for Atheists
vanity | 12/16/2004 | Tasmanianred

Posted on 12/16/2004 6:03:17 PM PST by TASMANIANRED

I have about had it with all the attacks on Christmas, Christmas Trees, Nativity Scenes, Christmas Carols on and on.

Do you think we could get them to shut up if we gave Atheists their own day to raise their self esteem. Maybe with their own day they won't be so offended that there are Christians that hold December 25th precious.

Give them February 11. It doesn't seem to belong to anyone else.

They can give each other bags of hot air.

They can have a meal of grouse, sour grapes and toast each other with pickle juice.

They can sit in the dark singing nothing and feel grim and smug while being alone in the universe.

I guess that I should add that I do know that being a Christian does not mean making such generalizations. I was just trying to make a point, but I'm sure that someone will call me a hypocrite unless I clarify (or even if I do, because many people like to ignore inconvenient facts).

"99 percent of atheists don't seem to have any problem with Christmas."

Yes, and the ones causing the problem, probably numbers in the low thousands, have another agenda, and it is a destruction of American tradition, culture, and society.

They could care less about Christmas, Christ, or anything else, as long as they can make their goal of destroying America as we know it.

Let them start their own calendar system as well. This one is based upon the birth of JESUS!

Happy Birthday to you.

I realize that it is a very vocal minority that the complaints are coming from and you are not involved.

Do you think a day that was acknowledged publicly to be a day of community for non believers would make any difference. Part of the problem seems to be that those that are most vocal are being excluded.

Kwanza was a made up holiday that had a theory and accepted means of celebration assigned to it. It is now widely accepted.

Would a day of celebration placate the offended feelings the complainers seem to experience at being in the presence of other peoples symbols?

Honest question, nothing wise a$$ implied.

True atheists are not offended at any religious event. To the TRUE atheist, people attending a church service are in the same catagory as people who dress up as their favorite Star Trek character and go to conventions. Do atheists become offended by people who talk of UFO's or little green men from Mars? Then why would they be offended when people talk of God? After all, to them aren't little green Martians and God equally ficticious?

The people who are offended are the people who HATE Christianity and seek to eliminate it.

The drivel is coming from your fellow Atheists. The drivel is that you dont stand up for what is right and start your own holiday- leave mine alone!

I'm not unhappy with the holiday as it stands now. I have no desire, nor any need to start another holiday. If you don't like it, well tough, you're not about to change me.

Probably some mean spirited Christian would sue them; I wonder if the ACLU would join in?

Yup. Slow news day. It is seasonal.

There has been lots of news about Plano School system banning certain colors, Other places where non denominational trees with tags where you can buy gifts for needy children are being protested. There has been news about nativity scenes being vandalized. Stories of Children being prevented from singing Christmas Carols.

Seems timely for a discussion to me.

In a nearby town they took down all the candles and Christmas symbols throughout the town and replaced them with one snowman.

You can join the fight against the ACLU and their ilk by becoming involved with and supporting the following organizations:

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) - http://www.alliancedefensefund.org

Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) - http://www.thomasmore.org

American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) - http://www.aclj.org

The Rutherford Institute - http://www.rutherford.org/

Stop the ACLU Coalition - http://www.stoptheaclu.org

Here are a few examples of how two of those organizations are fighting back:

ADF Contacts Over 3,600 School Districts Over Attempts To Censor Christmas

ADF: 700 lawyers ready to fight ACLU lawsuits

ADF: Pentagons' Warning About Boyscouts Is Absurd

Thomas More Law Center: Town of Palm Beach Pays $50,000 In Attorney Fees Apologizes To Women In Nativity Lawsuit

Additional information:

The ACLU must be destroyed: Joseph Farah supports Boy Scouts, urges Americans to fight back

Citizens mobilized to stop ACLU (seeks to consign group to 'ash heap of history')

ACLU fulfilling communist agenda

Revealing FACTS on the ACLU from its own writings
