For all of those who have called me every imaginable name because I dare to suggest that there are some things worse than death...I don't wish you on you anything that poor woman goes through on a minute by minute basis. Because you know so much, and are so sure that you are right because you are all so freakin self-righteous...I'm leaving FreeRepublic because I no longer want to be a part of something that has become so twisted. Hannity is right, this website has been hijacked. It was a good run...but we'll find another place. Save your jabs, I won't be reading them. To those who have privately agreed with me, and there are many, thank you. I'm just worn out and frankly, don't even care what most here think.
Better yet, Hildy. Log onto a site called, "Useless Eaters" if you'd like to know what this is all about.

No, I mean who IS she. The other day I said I thought she had some kind of protected status around here, and all h@ll broke loose. She must be someone of stature - not just for her longevity of posting here.
I really don't want you to answer my question about who she is (that is private and protected, I understand) its just that she always is in the middle of a flame war and she never gets burned.
Hey I'm always in the middle of flame wars and never get burned, either (OK, OK... almost never). I don't think Hildy is anyone that you or I would recognize, it's just that people who have been here for a long time have the best understanding of what they can and cannot do here.
FR has loyalty to the folks who stood together through the hard slog of the Clinton years, and with good reason. It's easy to join up with a majority, but a lot harder - and more meaningful - to join up with the minority we were at the time.
It's a shame you're leaving, Hildy. Please reconsider. I'll miss you and hope to see you back here soon.

She's recently taken a lot of heat from mostly newbies on the Schiavo threads.
I understand her frustration and I hope she comes back.

I was here during the Clinton years too. I lurked at FR everytime I went to the library...didn't have a computer. My thanks to all you "oldtimers" for carrying on when I couldn't be here.

I must say, that I have had more fun at a goat ropin than I do on these threads, but that is neither here........nor there.
It's not about protected status, stature, or longevity. Hildy has been around on this forum long enough to know what the posting rules are. I personally believe she walked away from FR because she didn't want to risk losing her posting privileges from FR by being goaded into a flame war by some poster who refuses to listen to opposing points of view and would rather bait her into a insulting and name calling flame war.

The season of offing the burdensome expands and left unchecked will be at your own room one day. And a Nurse Hildy will be to your loving care.
Those of you who think that she should be starved and dehydrated to death seem to think that she's not sentient enough to feel that pain. How do you explain that she is being tortured these last few years if she isn't sentient to know it? You are speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
Also, since we now have word that Terri has been able to communicate, shouldn't we ask her now what she wants, rather than relying on what her estranged husband said that she said roughly 20 years ago? The reason we have statutes of limitations is for the simple reason that people minds are not exactly conducive to remembering all the details and particulars of events.
Michael Schiavo is a perfect example in that in courtroom testimony, he can't remember when he and Terri moved to Florida, how long he held jobs for, how he found Terri, face up or face down. Why should his attention to this particular 'story' (about Terri's alleged wishes) be so definite, when he remembers so few things?
