TULARE, Calif. -- A first-year high school teacher has been charged with having sex with three of her students.
Tulare police said a staff member at Tulare Western High School went to administrators after hearing rumors that Elizabeth Stow, 26, was having sex with the teens.
All three students are 17 years old, and two are cooperating with police, authorities said.
Students said Stow liked to party with the kids and was friendly with boys in her class.
"They started checking with students ... and they found the name of one student who did admit to being involved with this teacher," said Jerry Breckinridge of the Tulare Police Department.
"I don't feel that this is something that should be going on at any school, let alone here at Tulare Western," said parent Mary Ann Luis.
Stow resigned Monday, the same day she was arrested.
Authorities said she was released after posting $10,000 bond.

I went to school in a small Texas town before the dawn of mandatory retirement ages, and most of my teachers were older than dirt. Consequently, this particular problem never reared its head. In fact, just thinking about it is making me a bit queasy. Ulp! Gotta go!...

OK, if they are 17 she should be fired but prosecuting her is a waste of money. That's different than the 13-year-olds we've been hearing about in other similar cases.

I went to school back in the dark ages but I know several teachers that married their students. I was asked out by one of my teachers. I did not go. I don't remember anyone getting upset by teachers that dated students.

I guess that's true. Lots of guys run off with some 16 year old student or the like. That's why if I were a teacher until I were older, I think I'd like to be teaching elementary students. No worries of any temptations there(NAMBLA would disagree lol)
The thing I don't understand is this:
When I was younger, women always wanted 'older' or same-aged guys. Why are 20 something or 30 year old women, some married, having sex with their students? Seriously, I'd have gotten laughed at if I had approached my teachers, I think....maybe not...
