LOL! Maybe Cheney needs to make an appearance wearing a white neckbrace!

Yes. What was that? I've heard more intelligent questions from five year olds. Heck, maybe even two year olds.

LOL. Do they realize just how stupid they look to regular people? Do they consult their own polls, while obsessively tracking the presidents?

Sheesh. What a bunch of dolts.

Was she really that stupid or was she just filling air time

Stupid; watch the "new, young" ones; they are so void of any knowledge it's quite frightening; I began to notice it during Hurricane Katrina; simply put, their educations and world experience are totally lacking and they are devoid of any sense of reference.

They still might do that. You may see Cheney resign and McCain or George Allen become VP next year.

Not sure how many regular people see these things, besides us news junkies.

And if Cheney's office had immediately rushed to inform the media about the accident, the press would have accused them of trying to "get out front" to spin the story, and speculating about what "the rapid response from this imperial administration said about what really happened." It doesn't matter what Bush or Cheney do as far as the media is concerned, it's always wrong, always done for partisan and nefarious reasons.

If George Bush went on national TV tonight, said that he lied us into the Iraq war and then stuck a pistol in his mouth and pulled the trigger, the media would whine about what took him so long to get around to it. That's the depth of their hatred for this administration.

And just where is it written in law that the media must be informed of everything above all else? Maybe the Whittington family asked the VP's office to wait a bit before releasing the information and starting the feeding frenzy, to give Mr. Whittington at least one night to rest a bit before being bombarded by the media vultures looking for anything they can use to destroy Dick Cheney. I were Cheney and had been asked that as a favor, I would have gone along in an instant, both out of a feeling that that was the least I owed the man after shooting him accidentally, and out of the knowledge that the media was going to going to rip me to shreds anyway no matter what I did.

They keep asking questions like, "Did the president know Cheney was the shooter?"

Carl Cameron actually said "...pulled the trigger..."

Yes, by all means, let's ramp it up.

This morning the Chicago Tribune online had a heading saying something about Elmer Fudd and Cheney, but I see that they have pulled that link.

I can honestly say I wouldn't care. It makes no difference. In fact, I think it would be wise for the FAMILY of the injured person to make the announcement when he or she was ready to protect their own privacy before the vultures descend.

Oh wait...that's what the VP did.

McCellan is the wrong person for this job. Drives me crazy to watch him talk to the press.

I'm sorry, but this was a signficant news story. This isn't about laws or guidelines, but just applying some common sense - get the guy to the hospital first, notify his family, and then issue a press release. That would have ended that part of the story. Waiting 22 hours was stupid.

Personally, I do not feel that Vice President Cheney owes anyone an apology other than the man he accidentally shot with Birdshot. I would never deem to apologize for him! That was no the intent of my posts. Then how about you not lecture me? Guess I was under the impression that among friends we could vent.

McCain and Allen are in states with a Democrat Governor. Their Seante replacements would be democrats.

Condi would be my first guess.

And as I mentioned earlier, it was a highly newsworthy story. Once the family members were notified so they would not find out about in on TV or radio, then issue a press release saying more information would be provided later. 22 hours was a long time to sit on this story, and it was not smart doing such.
