There is nothing to this. NOTHING.

From your lips, to Satan's ears.

The fact that YOU are on the other side of this clinches it for me and should for every Reaganite.

President Reagan "lashing out" or backing the CFIUS approval?

whatever....

people seem to forget that we have a very very strategic military base located (Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE) there and we never have a problem with the citizens of the UAE against out guys there. but watch if we trash this deal....the base will be at jeopardy. Shoots, canada even desires a base there also. Build on or two countries to be our allies in the gulf, then shoot ourselves in the foot over trying to group them all in the same mold as the radicals, then watch us loose our friendships we've built.

Remember this base was moved basically moved from Saudi to the UAE. what ever.

Halliburton doesn't manage ports. It builds port infrastructure.

Oh, don’t forget, they also charge a heck of a lot to cook for our troops. Yeah, they don't mind the service jobs as long as they make out as bandits.

You'd better be careful making such rash judgments - or, next time, Carter and sinkspur are going to announce they are in favor of something you DO want.

Bush is such a joke. He has no allies in this, unless he considers "attach rabbit" Jimmy Carter an ally.

Jeesh! Why back this? There is so much doubt. It's so not necessary.

"Should nobody hire an American company any longer because there are terrorist elements here?"

How many times are you guys going to trot out this absurd statement? That we control our own country is a given, and we have the authority for policing it. We do NOT have the authority to police the UAE. That there have been and likely continue to be Al Qaeda in the UAE goes without question. That ports are considered to be a potential target of Al Qaeda, via shipping containers, goes without question.

There are terrorist elements in the US, as we found out today.

Many are starting to see that. Bush has kind of opened their eyes today.

All arabs are not our enemy!

But if only 60-70% of them are, this is OK with you?

Technically, we're not at war with the UAE.
Also, technically, they're among our allies in the Gulf. Supposedly, so is Bahrain and Kuwait.

No allies, as in the Governor of one of the impacted States, or the most popular conservative radio talk-show host? Maybe you don't understand the concept of "allies" and that's why you are against the UAE?

"And then, in the Arab press, and to the Arab WORLD that we are trying to get to see things OUR WAY..."

I just know this will be a big disappointment for you, but I don't give a flyhing f**k what the Arab press or Arab world thinks because, despite your childlike faith, they will never see things our way.

"we come off as nothing more than a bunch of racist cretins..."

Well don't you just have the most dazzling politically correct multicultural cards to toss on the table?

To paraphrase a great president: "My policy toward militant Islam and anyone that supports them is quite simple. We win - they lose." And don't even try to suggest this "deal" doesn't constitute potential additional exposure to the Islamic terrorists.

In other words, take your trembling timidity somewhere else. We're all full up around here.

If we should care, then we should take note that two of the 09/11 hijackers were from the UAE. And we should slam the brakes on this now.

Timothy McVeigh was from the United States. I guess I shouldn't do business with any American companies, either.

add this to the long list of things I disagree with Bush on.

- education bill drafted by Ted Kennedy
- not repealing every Presidential order ever made by Bill Clinton
- not prosecuting Bill Clinton for the crimes he committed in office
- continued funding for PBS and the Arts
- prescription drug benefit
- not fighting hard enough for school vouchers
- not fighting hard enough for oil drilling in ANWAR
- federalizing airport security
- closing down "private" aviation for over a year after 9-11
- refusing to crack down on illegal emigrants
- offering amnesty to illegal emigrants
- appointing Bill Clinton to oversee the tsunami relief
- original nomination of Harriet Myers
- not supporting the conservative republican that ran against Arlen Specter
- not defending many of his federal appeals court picks vigorously enough
- not leveling Felicia from 30,000 feet and instead going door to door
- handing over Saddam to that kangaroo court in Iraq
- not telling the courts to stuff it, when they started affording terrorists at Guantanamo constitutional protections.
- not having executed even a single prisoner captured in battle dressed in civilian clothes yet.
- not prosecuting the editors and reporters of the NYT responsible for publishing the NSA wiretap information for treason.
- calling Islam the "religion of peace"
- visiting multiple mosque's after 9-11
- and now "fighting" to allow Muslims to manage our ports which everyone knows is one of our weakest spots when it comes to national security.
the sad thing is ... even though I disagee with Bush on all the above... Bush is a million times better than either of the 2 options we were given.

I can't explain this one. And for your information, most of us here aren't "Bushbots." We do have a mind of our own.

As for my opinion, I believe Bush is clearly in the wrong here and I'm sure if this goes to his for signature that there will be enough congressmen behind it to override his veto.

He best pull this deal while the fallout is still in a managable state. If he doesn't, he could be committing political suicide for his GOP constiuents.
