Terri's Day and nation's independence protects life culture

Kevin Fobbs May 29, 2006

America's Culture of Life is truly the legacy of one woman whose death forever changed our nation because of actions that were not in her hands but in those of her husband and his lawyers. Yet for millions of Americans we will forever link our own celebration of our nation's independence to the courage of the Schindler family to go forward past the tragedy, past the personal sorrow, past the searing anguish to help America draw a distinct line in the sand, to issue a clarion call to America.

Our 4th of July is coming... Our Culture of Life Independence Day is on its way. Our month of Independence is a message that March 31st (Terri's Day) will signal, that July 4th will signal... and that the month of July will signal to defend the Culture of Life before we lose it forever.

When we talked with our family members or even our neighbors or our friends we may have spent but a moment reflecting upon why we are even gathered on a Memorial Day afternoon. Do we think about the sacrifice of our soldiers and of their families? Do we think about the long goodbyes which are never long enough... as the military families send their loved ones to war, to battle, to stand firm for our freedoms... for our life... for our nation and its values of faith?

How does Terri Schiavo and her legacy tie into this? Terri's legacy and Terri's Day is a representation of a right to live, and freedom to have the liberty to not have it compromised away, devalued by inconvenience, or litigated away by judges who celebrate a culture of death that would rob life from the womb, steal life from a hospital or hospice bed, and destroy and shatter a family's love for a daughter, a sister and aunt who was given a gift from God, but had it separated from her as easily as an ant would have its life take by an uncaring shoe... extinguished forever.

The families who send their loved ones off to war have to wonder as well, does America value their sacrifice? The families of the military have to wonder just where does its society draw the line on its values? A soldier who is in battle in Iraq or Afghanistan has to wonder if a Florida judge can take away the life of an innocent, what is the measure of his life? Would a judge in America suddenly decide that if he were injured, if he had to sacrifice a limb that the protesters outside his hospital bed would have more rights than he would or his family? Would this soldier have to wonder that if he or his fellow soldier were killed in battle, that upon their return that the protesters who would stand outside of his funeral... have more rights to be protected than the rights his family would have to a military burial with honor?

You see, the Culture of Life is about Terri Schiavo, because Americans now have to examine the life of our culture itself. We have to wonder if we as a nation of Christians and of a nation of faith and of a nation of compassion would allow for a state to murder an innocent woman and strip her family of their loved one then as a nation would we allow America to have other symbols of life, of our nation to be peeled away as well, all in open sight and in plain view of a dispassionate nation?

What does our American Culture mean if we allow millions of illegal aliens to literally browbeat us into submission by demanding that because they have stolen across our borders, demanded and received protection from local law enforcement in numerous cities throughout the U. S., obtained free or reduced educational opportunities by state public colleges that our own children could not qualify to receive the same financial aid assistance for. Are we that defenseless to let illegals strip our state coffers of housing assistance for loans and mortgages when tens of thousands in almost every state in America have legal citizens who are homeless, impoverished, or working poor or middle class Americans who need similar assistance but cannot receive it. And they are legal! They are citizens! They are Americans.

What is so wrong about our nation when we are so ready to compromise our freedoms, our culture's life, the life of an innocent and the taking of any life is the taking of our own children's life and their child's. And with each successive generation the nation and its life, its values, its traditions, and its language will disappear because we as Americans were too preoccupied — too narrow — to see that an illegal alien was taking your child's education, that a crusading death culture judge was preparing a bed, a room, a legal precedent to take your child, grandchild or sister or parent.

That is why I have stayed my course to defend the Culture of Life and to ask my fellow Americans to begin to understand that as Terri Schiavo's life was slowly ebbing from her body and as her mother Mary, father Bob, sister Suzanne, and brother Bobby waited in the Florida early morning air on March 31st, 2005, America was having part of its soul ebb away as well.

What will it take to spark an interest, a concern, and a passion for protecting one's own life? Some may say that it would take a clear and present danger — like tanks rolling down your neighborhood street or another 9/11 that strikes at the heart of America. Do we have the convenience to wait? Do we wait until a state legislature in Maine or California or Delaware or Ohio or Illinois decides that your mother's decision to live is determined by a hospital "bean counter" who decides that your mother's life is not based upon a "Will To Live" but an ability to pay her bill? What about a baby, not born, but already set for murder in the womb — not because the mother is pro-life or pro-death but because "the law" says the unborn baby's life is expendable because the baby's genes are determined to be part of a class or a group or a race or of an ethnicity which pre-programs the child, un-born, to death?

America is being murdered in small pieces. It is seeing its values, its life, its culture disemboweled with the finesse of a skilled surgeon. And it is America's poll takers and its legislators and its uncaring, disinterested, and uninvolved who are handling the scalpel. Take the scalpel away. Contact www.Terrisfight.org to join the Foundation's battle to educate America about the right to live. Go to Terri's Day on www.kevinfobbs.com to learn about new updates on Terri's Day and the event to celebrate the Culture of life.

So on Independence Day and Independence month of July will we have any Americans who will sign up and join the Culture of Life movement in their community? Even if it is to sign a pledge, hand out a flyer, become aware of legislators and judicial candidates who have agreed to stand firm for the Culture of Life — a crusade that is based not only upon the life of Terri Schiavo's legacy but equally crucial based also upon the legacy of the right to live, to defend our culture and the life of its values.

Terri's Day is not the end of a national movement but the beginning of a national contract with itself to stand for a future that our nation can guarantee for its children and for a culture that will insure life. The right to live will be Terri's legacy — our legacy... one nation under God. Join us in your homes, on your family picnics, out camping and celebrating July 14th and 15th ... Our American Culture of Life belongs to each and every one of us... We must protect it. Let's celebrate together.

>> she fought so hard

It wasn't the first time. She fought desperately to breathe that fateful night, February 25, 1990. Her blood tests showed lactic acidosis, a condition caused by extreme exertion in the absence of oxygen. She was struggling to breathe and live.

Something cut off her oxygen. Lack of oxygen caused the brain damage.

It may well have been "Positional Asphyxia." A medical article defines it thus: "Positional Asphyxia:- in which the free action of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles is compromised, thereby causing hypoxia, disturbed heart rhythm and death. This factor will be significantly increased in prone restraints, or any procedure in which the movement of the chest is impeded or in which pressure or weight is applied to the back or chest."

In other words, the body is restrained or pinned down in a prone position (Terri was found in a prone position). If someone is on your back, say, the pressure on your diaphragm is so great you can't breathe. As you struggle, you develop metabolic acidosis (from the article again): "Acidosis:- the extreme exertion encountered in restraint situations produces lactic acid. In situations of prolonged struggle the individual may be unable to adequately clear lactic acid production leading to acidosis due to severe exertion, with consequent cardio-vascular collapse." [Terri went into cardiac arrest and had to be defibrillated seven times.]

Maybe somebody kneeling on her back left his knee prints when he pinned her down, one knee causing the unusual rib damage and the compression fracture of her spine at L1; the other causing the severe bone bruise on her right femur.

But, when the paramedics and the sheriff's office showed up an labelled Terri's case a homicide, they didn't bother to examine Michael Schiavo to see if he had any bruises, scratches or contusions. And there's the matter of his now deceased mother-in-law who worked at the Sheriff's Dept. at the time. And, there's also the matter that I just remember. An attorney joined the death lawyers was a FORMER EMPLOYEE with the Pinellas County Sheriff's office.

Conflict of interest means nothing to Pinellas cronies. I can't remember his name but I attended the court hearing and he treated Terri's dad as if he had robbed a bank. It was disgraceful. Terri's dad had done nothing wrong but Michael's lawyers were trying to keep the Schindlers' from visiting Terri any way they possibly could. They didn't see Terri for approx. 60 days in 2004, the spring due to other false charges.

So, a bunch of liars killed Terri. Get a circus tent, maybe all the second rate nazis who helped kill her would fit. No, wait. That wouldn't be big enough because I forgot about the swat teams, etc. I didn't take pictures in 2005. There are plenty out there though. I called Terri's 2005 Vigil COP WORLD.

PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING JUDGE GREER re: 2004 TV commercial:

August 17th at 4:00 pm est - 555 W. Pensacola St. Tallahassee.

Crist called J. Greer a hero after Terri Schiavo died from no water or nutrition for 13 days thanks to Greer.

>> they didn't bother to examine Michael Schiavo to see if he had any bruises, scratches or contusions.

There's no particular reason to think he had any marks. She was doubtless asleep, so taken by surprise. She wouldn't have been able to understand what was happening, at least at first. He's a huge man, twice her size, and would have had no trouble putting her down. If he got on her back (as suggested by the two highly unusual injuries), she wouldn't have been able even to scratch him or fight back. (Imagine lying prone -- what can you do to someone on your back, pinning you?) She didn't have a chance.

What is impossible to understand is why the police accepted Michael's story that all was well between him and Terri -- that they didn't have any arguments. But both sides of the family and at least one close friend confirmed that the two were having a huge argument that day. Why didn't the police follow up? Why did they close their "investigation" in less than one hour?

Domestic violence is the number #1 cause of death and injury to young women. Police and emergency rooms MUST assume DV in a case like this. To this day there is no official cause for Terri's injury -- the coroner effectively ruled out the bizarre bulimia alibi (and that was a one-in-a-million shot anyway). Officially, Michael has no alibi.

We do have medical evidence of what happened, in the nature of her injuries and in her blood tests. The lactic acidosis revealed by her blood is a classic symptom of violent asphyxia. And interestingly, the hypokalemia that everybody heard about might also have been caused by violence.

Small consolation, at least for me. He ought to be on trial for the extremely prejudicial rulings that wrongfully sentenced an innocent, disabled woman to die.

Interesting, in that the remark rises above the usual meaningless political blah-blah. Crist expresses real beliefs here -- a belief in judicial activism, a belief in euthanasia, and an unholy allegiance to the snakes involved in Terri's murder. Crist's views are utterly incompatible with principled conservatism.

Let's see where this hearing leads. I know that the public will be in attendance... Look at how long it took them to do anything! Remember our first Make a Complaint about Judge Greer was a thread at the end of August, 2003.

It has literally taken THREE YEARS to get even this scrap.

In the interim, however, an innocent person's life was snuffed out. This may be a probable cause hearing but they can take it further if they want to. (imo, somebody at the FEC despises Crist and what better way to get back at him than having his "hero" in trouble right before the Sept. 5th primary.

There will be an after action report re: the hearing, and I'll make sure I post it here somewhere.

Sure. If Greer gets dirt on his nose from an ethics charge, it's fine with me. He deserves much worse, of course, but at least this would knock his halo off.

If the probable cause hearing is going to be a waste of time to clear Greer, he won't actually be cleared. Terri's dead. Greer signed Felos' order. They killed her. Greer cheated in his election in 2004. Even the Pinellas supervisor of elections was kicking Govan supporters off of precinct sites even though they were given express permission to be there with signs for Govan.

The Pinellas GOP Machine makes Cook County, Illinois blush.

Yeah, life is like that. I was traveling last week, out of touch, and missed a really good end-of-life "futile care" case. (The Death Culters missed it too, for some reason.) It fit right into our area for discussion. Doctors worked desperately to save some 80-year-old geezer who was better off dead. They could have funded ten medical scholarships with the money and resources they wasted on this one guy.

His name was Fidel Castro.

I'm baaaack!

I'll never catch up on this thread after such a long vacation, but I did see some interesting stuff from the trolls and moles that were advocating evil and hatred in the name of God. Their souls are lacking so much, it's hard to know where to begin. Should we pray for them to gain wisdom, compassion, love, understanding, grace, forgiveness, empathy, knowledge, caring, faith, hope, charity, or just the ability to shut up until they know what they're talking about?

It's disheartening to see such hatred toward Christians openly displayed on a forum that proclaims to be pro-God. I don't understand why some are allowed to misuse a conservative Christian forum to denigrate the rule of law, the right to life, God, and so many other issues that Free Republic claims to stand for. I believe most FReepers do have solid values, and they are the ones who keep me coming back. But I've seen many Christians and other conservatives chased off by moles who convinced them that their values are not welcome here.

>> Lazarus was a friend of Jesus, according to Scripture. Jesus raised him from death, to prove His Divinity.

>> As to Dives, I will have to defer to Johnny Weismuller.

Anybody with access to Google could learn in a jiffy that Johnny Weissmuller was a swimmer, not a diver.

But why would you refer to anything but the Dives and Lazarus story in Luke 16:19-31 [KJV]? One who claims to know Greek and Hebrew exegesis from fourteen Bibles and who says, "I do have a good grasp of Scripture," surely must know who Lazarus and Dives were. It is one of our most famous biblical teachings, told over the centuries in stories and folk songs and spirituals, even an orchestral work by the English composer Vaughan Williams.

No, the story is not about the Lazarus who was a brother of Martha and Mary. This is a beggar named Lazarus.

Yes, I saw; don't care all that much, so long as those who want to learn about Terri can find us. There can always be another thread. Interest in Terri's case will outlive all of us, I promise you. People don't forget injustice! We are still talking about the temptation of Eve and about Cain slaying Abel, for pity sake.
