“I must be working too much or either nobody bothered to tell me there was a purge.”

Apparently there was some kind of purge, but I don’t know how significant it was. I got a heads up that I too was “circling the drain” here:

http://forum.darwincentral.org/viewtopic.php?p=129403#129403

I see one of my favorites, PatrickHenry, is off FR now. I don’t know anything more than that.

I new here and didn’t follow it very closely.

Wasn’t the issue whether the Rudybots could use the argument that Rudy might not be very conservative but he was the only chance the Republicans have to beat the dummacrats?

JimRob warned them to stop using that argument and they refused? Something like that...

Don't worry. The Giulianiacs will grudgingly and contritely come back when The Fred is nominated, and there's nowhere else for them to go but to either the Clinton-Obama gulag, or some quixotic third-party camp.

It’s a shame that JR didn’t let pro-abortion liberals take over his conservative site with Giuliani propaganda. Boo Hoo.

I miss some of the exiles, but it’s been clear for a long time that Jim did not want any Giuliani campaigning on the forum. Perhaps the situation can be reevaluated next year after the party nominees have been chosen. We’re going to need all of the help we can get to stop Hillary.

Robinson, it should be noted, famously blasted George W. Bush’s presidential candidacy back in 2000, before a dramatic late-campaign about-face that saw him emerge as one of the GOP ticket’s biggest supporters.

Really? Who did Mr. Robinson support? I know he supported Arnold at the end of the 2003 recall election.

Finally, one popular theory holds that the Free Republic is secretly hoping for another Clinton presidency that would send its Alexa ratings soaring back to levels it hasn’t experienced since its halcyon days of the Clinton impeachment,

Someone correct me if I am wrong

Since this site is a non profit entity, Jim doesn't sell commercial space or links, just what does the Alexa ratings have to do with anything except bragging rights?

'Upon further review' taxes were not cut. They were deferred to the future. If government expenses are not cut, taxes are not cut.

What a load of bull.

(They asked that their names be kept out of this story for fear of antagonizing the famously frisky site regulars.)

Baloney. I'm getting hte idea that their sources do not exist.

Over the past few weeks, chaos has reigned in the “Freeper” community as members sympathetic to the former mayor's candidacy claim to have suffered banishment from the site.

Let them name themselves.

The fight began one month ago, when site founder Jim Robinson posted an anti-Giuliani manifesto titled: “Giuliani as the GOP presidential nominee would be a dagger in the heart of the conservative movement.” Then the virtual ax started to swing.

Not true.

THIS....

This is the post that started it all

Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate? April 21, 2007 Jim Robinson

Over 18,300 replies and still going strong.

They were victimized, they say, by a wave of purges designed to weed out any remaining support for the Giuliani campaign

If true, chances are they were trolls. I've noticed quite a few Rudy supporters that have joined as recently as in Nov. 2006 to present.

Rudy is a liberal; so’s McCain for that matter.
Newt Gingrich needs to give up on the Global Warming BS or he’s gonna be lumped in with the socialists too. I really like Newt; nearly everything he stands for I like and agree with but I draw the line on the man-made global warming crap. Newt, you are disappointing me.

some of the former mayor’s most damning moderate quotes in mainstream media venues, along with a color-coded report card tracking his less-than-doctrinaire positions on abortion, immigration, gays and guns.

Gee... in the last paragraph, Rebecca starts to get it! But it isn't just Rudy's quotes, it's his record and his positions: abortion, immigration, gays and guns, deficit spending, bloated government, 4th amendment abuses, etc. etc. etc.

Does she really think I'd last long at DemocraticUnderground if I was posting in opposition to the unions or the welfare state and cussing out all the liberals for being "morons" if they didn't agree with me? Heaven forbid if I said I supported the war or George Bush!
