Mom,' 'dad,' banned; now 600,000 students could go
WorldNetdaily.com ^ | February 07, 2008 | Bob Unruh

Only months after a new state law effectively banned "mom" and "dad" from California schools, a total of 600,000 students could follow because of what has been described as the "repudiation" of 2,000 years of Christian morality, according to leaders of a new campaign assembling education alternatives.

The campaign is called California Exodus, and is being headed by Ron Gleason, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Yorba Linda, who said while the country excels in social, economic, scientific and political accomplishments, it "gets low grades on the education of its children."

The issue is the state legislature's adoption of Senate Bill 777, which requires only positive portrayals of homosexual, bisexual, transgender and other alternative lifestyle choices.

"First, the law allowed public schools to voluntarily promote homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality. Then, the law required public schools to accept homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual teachers as role models for impressionable children. Now, the law has been changed to effectively require the positive portrayal of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality to six million children in California government-controlled schools," said Randy Thomasson, chief of the Campaign for Children and Families and one of those who originally called for an abandonment of public schools.

"To rescue their children, loving parents need to find an alternative to government schools, and every church needs to make it a priority to help parents be in charge of their children's education again," he said.

He has condemned public school districts as "no longer a safe emotional environment for children" under the new law, signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, that will introduce children as young as kindergarten to the homosexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

Advancing homosexuality in the schools to destroy the foundation of the country, the family, is one of many methods used by Socialists to replace our Democratic Republic with Socialism.

Perfectly said, btw.

From time to time, they DO talk about it, but then get flooded with tons and tons of Email about thier “Hate” and “Bigotry”.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Also,,,Follow the money!

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are NOT about to offend and insult their audience and sponsors.

There are more than 45 MILLION kids in government schools with parents totally addicted to the government babysitting. And,,,shamefully,,,Many of those parents are so-called conservatives listening to Rush and Sean’s shows!

Besides the parents, there are 3 million government teachers in this country. . Then consider the several million school employees who are not teachers. Then their are employees of businesses that directly have business with the government schools. Finally, there are people like my dentist who depend on teacher business ( excellent dental insurance, you see.) Everyone of these people are connected to family, neighbors, and friends.

Are Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill OReilly about to bite that hand that feeds them? I don’t think so!

I am disgusted!

Rush has no children, so he doesn’t really care about the ‘rug rats.’ That’s up to their parents to deal with. Hannity probably sends his kids to Catholic or private schools, so again - not a problem in his eyes. Wake up - Look in the Mirror yourselves. It’s your kids and you should be doing the marching, protesting, and protecting your CHILDREN from the social engineers. You better be prepared to go to jail, too, because that’s what will happen if you get too angry at these elected officials. We need a law like Canada and most of Europe has - tax dollars follow the child to whatever school the parents choose - parochial , govt., private. Time to get the control back, Parents!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post that **thier** child’s school was different. Gee! And not at all effected by what goes on in California.

Before long, every textbook in the nation will be scubbed clean of the words “mother” and “father”, and will thoroughly reflect the homosexual ( Marxist) agenda.

Oriental and Indian students in US schools do not do as well as those who remain in their respective countries. They only look good compared to the millions of slacker native-born Americans.

And the reaction to this shows you exactly why leftists try to get every onerous social “law” implemented at the federal level instead of a state level.

People are escaping their clutches! Can’t have that!

Such pessimism...600k would be fewer than 1 student in 10 in California. Even in California 1 family in 11 or 12 probably still cares enough to take its children out IF the family knows what has happened.

The current problem in California is that there has been a news blackout on SB 777. Either it isn’t reported on or, when it does come up, people are told that the legislation really doesn’t change anything and that the concerns expressed are much ado about nothing. Consequently, the key will be whether the various organizations involved can get the truth to the grassroots. Various initiatives are under way in that regard in CA, and I think that it is just a matter of time.

FYI, there is already a group of Russian baptist churches in the Sacramento area that is discussing taking all of its children out of the government schools. That would be at least between 3K and 6k children. Based on what I know I would say that the exodus of these children is highly probable.

I agree with your statement to follow the money, but disagree with your targets. I don’t think it would pee-off the people you mention. It’s the 1% who have so much power they claim they don’t have, they would get peeved.

Can anyone tell me EXACTLY how do you explain homosexuality to the little kids?

"There are people with a mental illness called homosexuality. Instead of the normal attraction of men to women and women to men, they are attracted to the same sex. We don't know for sure if they are born that way or decide to be that way at some point.

Sometimes they call themselves "gay". There are also crude names for them, like faggot, queer and others; and terms like pervert that accurately describe them.

It is not OK to tease and torment them, call them names or to beat them up. God loves them too, He just hates their behavior. It is OK to reject them when they try to touch you or to convince you to do things you know in your heart are wrong.

If they are adults or kids bigger than you, try never to be alone with them. If they try to force you to do things, do your best to escape; scream, run, hurt them as a last resort.

If they do things to you despite your efforts to escape, remember: IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT; YOU DID NOT DO WRONG, THEY DID.

Most of all, you need to pray for them, let them know you are doing so, and try to help them find Jesus.

That isn’t going to happen. Look at what happened in Utah.

The following is what needs to happen ( simultaneously):

1) Shame:

Conservative should start asking parents who use government schools, “Why would you do that to your child?” “What catastrophe is going on your life that you need to do that?” It is time that those using government schools start explaining themselves and giving excuses.

Conservatives should start asking Christian teachers, “Why are you working for government schools?” “What are you doing in your church to get kids out of the atheistic government schools?” “Specifically, what have you done and what are you doing to forcefully and effectively change your government school?” “Why haven’t you been fired?”

2)Private foundations to offer private vouchers to private schools that uphold the Constitution, free markets, and the Judeo Christian principles upon which all freedom rests:

If Harvard can have a $35 BILLION dollar endowment, and universities across this nation with endowments in the billions and millions, then conservatives ( Christian and non-Christian) could do the same! It is time we gave the conservative teachers ( Christian and non-Christian) and their ministers some money to follow!

3) Encourage family, friends, and neighbors to use private and home schools.

4) Organize a MASSIVE school tax revolt with the goal to completely shut down, ( forever!) the government madrassas ( mis-named “schools”)

600k would be fewer than 1 student in 10 in California.

That's a very large percentage to leave the "free" government schools over this particular issue. As I mentioned above, this is far from the first occurrence that would make parents consider alternative education. I think that the majority of those who are going to choose private education have already done so.

You may be right about some organized groups, such as the Russian Baptists, who will leave government education over this point. Since Slavic Evangelicals (Ukrainians and others, as well as Russians) often have large families, this could come to tens of thousands throughout the state. However, I believe the 600,000 figure is excessive.

Are you a government teacher, an education student, your parents government teachers, or does money come into your household by way of the education-industrial complex? ( Just curious)

No. I do have a Master's in Education and have written several papers on the state of our public school system. Sometimes I forget that no one else can hear the little voices in my head and, what seems to be a cohesive thought to me sounds like babbling to others.

The point that I failed to make was that society has shifted the burden of raising our children from the traditional family to the government. Our school system has replaced traditional parenting and now you have liberal commitees making decisions about what moral norms should be taught.

There are a hundred theories on how this happened, but in the end it's the parent's responsibility to object and to change the system. As conservatives, we are the ones who should be voicing our objections to this. We also need to develop alternatives, such as home schooling and charter schools, that aren't going to teach out children values and behaviors that are objectionable.

My point about the oriental children was that traditional oriental families play a much greater role in their child's life when they aren't in school. Instead of sending their kids into the dining room to do homework, they sit down with them and guide them through it. It might not be the perfect solution, but it's better than letting the school system and the liberal media raise your children for you.

You are absolutely correct!

Follow the money to the Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill OReilly money pots.

I will give Sean and Bill some credit. They do, on occasion, publicize some of the government school nuttiness. BUT,,,They **NEVER** say what needs to be said:

Get YOUR kids OUT of these government madrassas!

These Marxist government madrassas can NOT be reformed!

Government madrassas are in complete conflict with freedom of conscience and the First Amendment!

Organize a MASSIVE tax revolt.

SHUT DOWN these Marxist government madrassas PERMANENTLY!

Most parents have no idea what is really going on in government schools (this is true in other states, too). A great deal of money is spent in California and elsewhere by districts to perpetuate the myth that their schools are somehow “different” from the schools parents are reading about or may have heard about. In the case of SB 777, it is now clear that no school can be “different.” Once parents and churches are aware of that, a larger percentage than 8% or 9% may leave. One key is making churches aware that they can provide a very good alternative to public schools at a very low cost without starting a traditional Christian school. The lower price point that is possible today will make it possible for many more children to leave.

The school establishment in CA is very nervous about this.

It may be time to peacefully secede. ( As Walter Williams has suggested.)

With so many single moms and kids in fatherless homes, I am afraid we have reached a tipping point on the Marxist continuum. There are too many people who are depending on the government.
