How did they get away with the title Dark Knight anyway? I would figure all the B. Hussein Obama followers would have whined about it by now.

On the news they were saying they really barely got away with the PG 13 rating. The reviewer said it was a little too dark, too intense and definitely no younger types should be seeing it.

As for me, I’m a little sick of twisted, sick movies that seem to feed people’s dark side. I think I’ll save my money here.

Just saw the movie....completely blown away by Heath Ledger’s performance.
Great movie - plot might not be as good as Batman Begins - but the Joker really steals the show.
Can anyone top this performance?
I can’t think of anyone.

I was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t been able to sit through any of the previous Batman movies because they were either stupid or boring (Batman Begins). The only reason I went was because my Dad wanted to take me and my teenage son. While it was dark, it wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be. I thought of President Bush in the scene where they were talking about the true definition of a hero is doing what was necessary, even if it wasn’t popular. This one was worth the money, and I don’t say that about many movies.

The title is a twenty year old alternative title for Batman, and while it has profound meaning to Batman fans, it has absolutely no connection to Obama or anything else outside Batman.

Twenty years ago there was a series of comic books called the Dark Knight Returns, written by Frank Miller. It was faithful to the history of Batman and the characters, but it was also a fresh new rethink of it, in a darker, meaner tone. The Dark Knight Returns concerns itself not with Batman's origin, but with his death, and being hunted down by the police.

That series of comic books was wildly successful, and inspired all ot the Batman movies since 1989, although Dark Knight fans have hated the films, because they are just too much of a cop out.

By naming the film Dark Knight, the filmmakers have let every Batman fan know they have raised the bar. And yes, they have lived up to their own challenge.

Maybe I’ll give it a try. Movies are so dark and twisted now, and don’t seem to get good reviews if they are not.

If they are rated PG, seems no one likes them.

Very young kids should not, but I would kind of disagree with this assessment.

The most frightening thing is that a character's face is severely burned, and it is rather graphic. But that character is not a monster either, he is always a human being, and at least older kids will understand the situation.

There is action and violence all over the place, explosions, fights and what not. But when the actual fights happen, they are not filmed to invoke gore or to shock. They actually kind of minimise the direct violence, I can't even recall any blood.

The most shocking and frightening parts are the situations which the Joker will place the other characters, where they must choose one out of two painful outcomes. Very young kids will not understand those situations enought to be terrified by them.

I really liked the movie, but some of the dialogue was just too cerebral (or even feeling whispered) to keep the pace of the rest of the movie. Ledger's performance was indeed gripping, on a par with the villain from No Country for Old Men in it's ability to get you on the edge of your seat.

It was terribly dismaying to see all the 10-and-under kids lined up to see the next showing. Some parents must really have zero brainpower when it comes to telling their little darlings the word no.

They definitely have raised the bar. When I first heard that they were going to use "Dark Knight" I was thinking they are really setting themselves up for a lot of criticism from Batman fans, because "Dark Knight" is not something you toy with.

I thought it was funny that some were reading the whole "war on terror" thing into the movie. It was amusing that they would take basic concepts from old comics and try to morph them into "THIS IS ABOUT THE WAR ON TERROR" stuff.

I'm sure when they saw the Watchmen trailer, they were freaking out how much it was about the war on terror. Somebody sitting next to me actually said the Watchmen was about the war on terror. I tried to explain that the Watchmen was written in the 1980s and actually took place in the 1940s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, but it was lost on the guy.

Speaking of Watchmen, WOW. I had not been paying attention to its development - I knew the guy who did "300" was behind it, but just damn. If the movie is half as good as the trailer looks, should be excellent.
