Some torture stories are just too horrible to contemplate, while others are too complicated to understand. But Scott Horton's devastating new exposé of the possible murders of three prisoners at Guantanamo in 2006 is neither: It's simply too terrible to allow to be true. Which is why it has been mostly ignored this week in the mainstream American media and paid little attention by the usual crew of torture apologists on the right. The fact that three Guantanamo prisonersnone of whom had any links to terrorism and two of whom had already been cleared for releasemay have been killed there and the deaths covered up, should be front-page news. That brand-new evidence of this possible atrocity from military guards was given only the most cursory investigation by the Obama administration should warrant some kind of blowback....
When the story first broke, Andrew Sullivan wrote: "This deserves to be the biggest story on the torture issue since Abu Ghraibbecause it threatens to tear down the wall of lies and denial that have protected Americans from facing what the last administration actually did." But with the exception of a single AP story, the American media have been silent. The British papers have covered the story. The right-wing torture apologists have said virtually nothing....

Slate is your source? Get serious next time if there is one.
this BS will never end. We’ll be hearing bogus stories of torture for 20 years.
If “Salon” wonders that, then it must not be true.
...it is meant to be ignored.
It’s pure crap.
Too many people with anti-Bush agenda’s for this to have remained hidden this long.
Cry me a river Dahlia.......who cares about them?
exposé of the possible murders
In other words.....it’s BS.
If members of the military murdered prisoners and it can be proven then it deserves to told.
However, let’s also not ignore what happens in our prisons in the US.
More koran flushing.
Why post this nonsense? It’s not even worth arguing about.
I am not sure I believe that. We are supposed to buy into the assertion that the BO administration is in cahoots with the Bush administration to cover up something like this? Uh huh, and that particular Slate reporter has been doing her best to undermine our country since she was allowed to come here.
These terrorists should be tortured and then put a bullet in their brainpan. My heart bleeds purple piss, even though this is BS and you know it.
“This deserves to be the biggest story on the torture issue since Abu Ghraib...”
I am still mystified as to what was so torturous about Abu Ghraib. Was some sort of atrocity performed there or was it on level with fraternity hazing?
Great work steve-b.
Good grief. You believe any leftwing horseshit out there? What’s next, press releases from Code Pink?
Why am I not suprised, stevie-b-troll?
Right Wing Torture Apologist here. It’s all lies. They were trying to escape. They asked for it. Buncha ragheads came over the fence to help them escape and we greased them all. I’ve been waterboarded lotsa times and it ain’t so bad. Bed-wetting liberals. Commies in government won’t let us do our jobs. Lying POS journalists.
Did I forget anything?
It was considerably less serious than fraternity hazing, but the resurgent old hippies and their younger followers needed some sort of "My Lai Massacre" so they could make believe it was the '60s again.
