In 2009 the Fed Tax on cigarettes went from 39 cents per pack to $1.00 per pack to support CHIPS.
Now that everyone will have health insurance and there is no need for the Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP), when will the CHIP tax on tobacco be removed?
Off course the answer is never, the slugs we have down there in the Congressional Cesspool will find a way to use the money for another project.
Plus, I read that the bill authorizes 50% higher premiums for smokers than for nonsmokers. Seems like nicotine addiction should be considered a pre-existing condition?

When I become president, I will make it a law that no legal product can be taxed more than 10% of the cost of its production. Somehow, I think this kind of taxes against one business and not another violates the equal protection clause, though I’ve never heard it argued.

In MA the state cig tax is $2.50 so I’m expected to pay $35.00 in taxes on a carton and to add insult to injury they compute the 6% sales tax on the aforementioned excise taxes.

I also smoke, but there are smokers who are just as self righteous and socialist as the next.
