Palin: Michael Steele 'doing a great job' (BARF ALERT)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-04-07 | Bob Cusack

Posted on 04/08/2010 11:47:00 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Sarah Palin said Wednesday that the embattled chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) is "doing a great job."

During an appearance on conservative commentator Sean Hannity's show on the Fox News Channel, Palin said, "I support Michael Steele.... I think he's doing a great job. Michael Steele is an outsider. The machine, I think, is tough to penetrate... I think it's been good to have an independent outsider trying to create some change in the Republican Party."

The former Alaska governor's remarks are in sharp contrast to the comments of other leading Republicans, who have criticized Steele in recent months.

I don’t think he’s doing a ‘great’ job but he’s hardly the source of the RNC’s problems. And I agree with Palin that he is an outsider to the clique that used to run the show and that’s an asset. This upsets me a lot less than Sarah campaigning for McCain.

I do not work with Steele. I do not know him. Make no mistake the media and their Dem pals are in full attack mode after passing Obamacare. Divide and conquer seems to beat so many even here.

That's the most idiotic statement I have heard all week.
Michael Steele is doing a “great job’ like Don Quixote was doing a great job. It's not even close. The guy is the most incompetent, clueless, gaff prone RNC Chairman I have ever seen. Practically every time he opens his mouth, he talks nonsense. Case in point, him blaming racism for his own screw ups just this week.

You are so right! This is one of those times it would have been better for her to say nothing! Michael Steele is no outsider because he is in the hip pocket of lobbyist and has been from day one which some members of the RNC have been complaining about for months.

Larry, Moe and Curley could do a better job. What sort of Meds is Sarah taking? Wake up and smell the coffee. I can see a pattern here—she’s trying to worm her way back into the good graces of the RINO GOP. Lets hope this is a plan to reform from within.

“Imagine if she called him out for the half-RINO he is.

It was a smart move by her at this point in things.”

I have been a big supporter of Palin, but frankly she is losing me with all these “smart moves”.

First she campaigns for McCain who wants to destroy our country with amnesty for illegals and climate change legislation. Now she backs that idiot, race baiter Steele, who paints Obama as a victim of racist America, in a futile attempt to save his own job.

I can somewhat understand her misplaced loyalty to McCain, but she owes nothing to Michael Steele.

Palin won me over because she used to do and say the RIGHT things, not the politically “smart” things.

I wonder if they got room in the Happy Jeep for Michael Steele? They can put Biden in the trunk.....

Sarah Palin is just another Liberal RINO...people need to realize this....

This is just another of these very troubling, well, not-so-bright remarks by Palin. SAY NOTHING. First she supports McLame, then she opens the door to supporting his amnesty by clearly NOT mentioning the fact that we need to do something about the 12 million illegals here, now this.

If Romney had said this, crap would be hitting the fan.

Be fair; Steele was asked if racial bias “added” (IIRC) to his “difficulties” (IIRC). It was a yes or no question about a deliberately ambiguous subject, and a trick one intended to throw him to the dogs of conservatives. If this is the closest that Steele ever gets to touching the race card, the GOP is quite blessed. Please don’t fall for the media trolling.

I am not a Palin supporter and rather have DeMint, Hunter, or Thompson as our candidate in 2012. With that, I still think we should give her a pass on the comment. What good does it publically slamming him at this point? Personally, I think Steele will be removed behind the scenes, without a messy PR event.

There is no argument Conservatives are happy with Michael Steele.

But what I see is an effort by the Obamah State Media Butt-Kissers to portray that unhappiness as more racism by the White Republican base.

This is more an effort by State Media to drum out Steele than it is Conservative or Republican effort.

State Media already portray the Right's anger at Obamah as racist, we hear it every day.

And if Michael Steel is run off, it will be more of the same.

Divide & Conquer is the tactic being used by State Media to distract from Obamah's Socialist agenda to weaken America.

Agree, he should go, quietly. Thompson is way too old and lacking energy; Hunter, for all his ideological creds, just has not caught on and is too unknown.

DeMint in terms of positions seems possible. I don't know about his personal appeal, and probably can't even place his face. So he'd have a ways to go, but it's do-able.

Trojan Horse? Seems like a risky, problem laden strategy to me. Where are all the ‘Palin is an angel’ people today attacking us as ‘liars’ for daring to ask a simple question of Gov. Palin? (wait for it, wait for it...) :) Look I like Palin, but you’ve got to admit, she’s doing some weird head fakes on us...

Agreed. I think even the Establishment is right here to not make Steele a bigger issue before the elections, and let the RNC deal with it when they vote again in January.
