Palin: Michael Steele 'doing a great job' (BARF ALERT)
The Hill, Washington, DC ^ | 2010-04-07 | Bob Cusack

Sarah Palin said Wednesday that the embattled chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) is "doing a great job."

During an appearance on conservative commentator Sean Hannity's show on the Fox News Channel, Palin said, "I support Michael Steele.... I think he's doing a great job. Michael Steele is an outsider. The machine, I think, is tough to penetrate... I think it's been good to have an independent outsider trying to create some change in the Republican Party."

The former Alaska governor's remarks are in sharp contrast to the comments of other leading Republicans, who have criticized Steele in recent months.

“It was a yes or no question about a deliberately ambiguous subject, and a trick one intended to throw him to the dogs of conservatives. If this is the closest that Steele ever gets to touching the race card, the GOP is quite blessed. Please don’t fall for the media trolling.”

He could have given a good political answer - and avoided the question. Why didn’t he? Why are we cursed with people that *have* to answer such a question, exactly as asked...at least most of the politically saavy RATS are able to avoid answering trap questions (well traps in their minds) straight away.

In this game for keeps with the RAT press - that is a MUST for our leadership. They should NEVER trust a RAT pressers question. As others have said about Steele’s race card comments - should have never done the interview, and if you do the interview, you remain saavy and don’t allow Stepha-snuffalufagus to go there.

It sounds more to me like she’s following Reagan’s creed of keeping criticism of other Republicans internal. With an election looming less than 7 months away, I suspect she’s trying to present a united front (with the understanding Steele will be dealt with at the appropriate time).

Sarah Palin is just another Liberal RINO...people need to realize this....

Oh, please. LOL! Palin's trying to keep a sense of GOP unity in the run-up to a critical off-year election and for that she's a lib? Got it.

Listen to what steele has said in the past... look at his statements while he subbed for bill bennett on Morning in America... he is as bad as harry reid... educate yourself... steele is part of our problem... he has NO solutions... he is ineffective... he is a liberal... he is an idiot. I have said this since before he was anointed.

At this stage steele just needs to keep quite and out of the limelight.

Him resigning now is not going to accomplish anything than give the gop bad press.

Didnt Steele say that he and Obama have an uphill battle with republicans because of their race, a higher standard set for them ?

Steele was a liberal republican from Maryland who helped republicans win the governorship of a very liberal state , but then jumped ship to lose the 2006 MD Senate race against a more liberal white Ben Cardin. Republicans lost both seats.

Then Hannity pushed Steele for two years as RNC head on his show, loved McCain too. Steele said he would reach out to different demographic voters.

Steele got the position by seeking the camera.

Steele is a clown but keeping the spotlight on him is not going to accomplish anything whatsoever.

We need to focus on making sure we have no more defeats like health care etc.

RE :”Be fair; Steele was asked if racial bias “added” (IIRC) to his “difficulties” (IIRC).

He could have said ‘NO’ but he doesnt believe it is 'no'. How did BoB and Steele get their jobs if the country is so racist?(question to Steele)

Steele is a liberal republican from Maryland who like Keyes ran for Senate there(a liberal state with many black voters) and lost. He got the RNC job by appearing on Hannity each night, or it looked that way anyway.

She doesn’t have to slam him, she should say nothing at all.

You are correct. She has always been more of a populist and politician than a Conservative. She has no problem making RINO moves if she thinks it may help her politically.

RE :”We need to focus on making sure we have no more defeats like health care etc.

I dont disagree but I have heard some on MSNBC say that Obama wants to avoid anymore tough votes in congress before the election, to ditch Cap and Trade and amnesty and focus on banking reform to lure a few RINOs.

What is interesting about this is the house Hispanic caucus held back their HR votes until Obama promised to push amnesty, but maybe they meant after the election when McCain can safely support it again.

This is getting a bit off topic of this thread, but an good subject anyway.

GOP unity? Promoting RINOs and alienating the base?

ROFLMAO!

I love Reagan, but his 11th Commandment was a complete farce. He ripped Ford publicly up and down in 1976 (and it was wonderful).

Reagan only began following his 11 Commandment when it was clear he was the front runner in 1980.

RE :" She has no problem making RINO moves if she thinks it may help her politically."

That leaves a big question if true. What is she going for? What is her end goal? I honesty havent concluded anything.

I assume it was in an answer to a direct question during a live interview. How would it look if was to sit there and say nothing? These things should be handled behinds the scenes not in front of a camera.

The only exceptions anyone ever finds to the "11th Commandment" are when Reagan was actively campaigning against the target. Is Palin running against Steele for anything?
