First Impression: The Tea Party hurt republicans more then democrats. (Vanity)

Thanks to the Obama economic failure, this would be a Republican surge year regardless. In most races across the country, the scorned Independents broke for republicans giving them the margin of victory.

Haley and Toomey I'll credit to the Tea Party. Miller is still up in the air.

Past that, looking at the other big Tea Party races:

Rubio won not because of the Tea Party but thanks to the selfishness of Charlie Crist splitting the dem vote. Angle lost to the most unpopular dem senator in the nation, a man who COULDN'T win. Paladino was a humiliating disaster. Rove was absolutely correct: O'Donnell was hopeless, throwing away a senate seat Castle would have almost certainly won.

Not to mention the Hayworth and Devore failures in the primaries.

Overall, the losses substantially outweigh the wins.

Not saying the Tea Party is useless, I don't think it is at all. But dialing down the fantasy it will hereafter control the political dialogue and set the agenda may be a good idea. Just who can throw the most red meat to the base isn't enough.

IOWs the TEA Party was obstructed by the GOP from winning more conservative seats. I agree. The RNC needs to be defunded.

You need to change your screen name to stupid.

You write like a lib - starting with the conclusion - then writing some facts to support it, while ignoring others.

O’Donnell lost - and we are all supposed to cry boo hoo - bad tea party. Fiorina lost - and not a peep.

O’Donnell most probably lost due to attack FORM REPS. And lack of support from Rinos.

As for Angle - blacks and Mexicans from Las Vegas, with some ex-LA libs mixed in. Plus - who knows how much fraud.

" if a human being is not going to vote in a conservative way then why should they call themselves a republican in the first place? "

Because they are liberal plant moles to hide and infiltrate and strike at the right moment....

" RINOs be gone! "

The Tea Party will have to put up a great offense and defeat Romney so he won't get the GOP nomination.

It's good that you have started cleaning the house of MITTENS worshipers here on Free Republic.

The Tea Party backed the most conservative candidates in these races. We win some, then win some more in 2012. Overall the Democrats took a beating tonight. Too bad if that upsets you.

Plenty. I wonder why Angle didn't contest the result?

Effing RINOs! Worthless!

Hu-ah.

Doubling my contribution on the new credit card as of the 5th or 6th.

Although how can anyone really complain about 6-8 pickups?

Because all the democrat strongholds held up. We see the GOP can compete well enough in the traditional battleground states. Florida, Pennsylvania: Republicans can pull off close wins in such races, but even there, the contest is fairly even.

It's easy to imagine the GOP cobbling together a presidential victory two years from now out of such a map; but not winning the type of Congressional majority needed to make any substantial - or for that matter, even minor - reforms. The remorseless march of statism continues apace.

They are strongholds for a reason.

What we need are the people who are vote in to be willing to fight. They can stop it if they are willing to fight and we are willing to stand with them.

The left did not advance their agenda in one election, we can’t undo everything all at once either.

This was only the beginning of the beginning.

He used “then” correctly. The Tea Party hurt the (establishment) Republicans, in Alaska. Then it hurt them again in Delaware. Then it REALLY REALLY REALLY badly hurt the Democrats.

Either that or tlb is the most ridiculous DUchebag to ever survive 100 replies without being zotted.
