Girl Dies Bull Riding. VERY RARE ACCIDENT
http://www.associatedcontent.com ^ | Feb. 21st, 2011 | Sherry Tomfeld

Many people die every day, how many die doing something they absolutely LOVE? Brooke Ann did. I'm sure her adrenaline was pumping just before she got on that bull. I'm sure there was a part of her that thought "this is the one I'm going to make 8 seconds on". She smelled the bull, felt his power underneath her and was loving every minute of it. Would it have been easier, more PC or less heartbreaking if she'd been killed in a car wreck on the way home? No.

Reminds me of Jessica Dubroff episode. Its a tragedy, period. The tone of felicitation is opportunistic & somehow sick IMO.

I’ve been around cattle on and off my entire 65 years, and never at any time did it occur to me to try to sit on the bull. I’m sorry she died, but it’s not like it couldn’t have been predicted.

Not to get off subject but you should learn a bit about the monitoring rodeos undergo regarding treatment of the animals before spouting off. You are wrong, the bulls buck because they are bulls not because they are being tormented. Have you seen the size of a Brahma bull? They are tough, ornery, hardscrabble critters who don’t need to be tormented in order to come swinging out the gate. Sheesh.

I'm confused that you are confused, people get killed everyday, whether doing something stupid, texting while driving, are something they love, bull riding was what this girl loved, she dreamed of being a world champion. Now how is that different than a ski jump where you can break your neck.

They have a highschool rodeo team in Okeechobee. She probably started out in jr rode, calf roping and goat tying. That being written I tend to think bull riding is not appropriate to females.

Many of those injuries are not very severe, and the more severe ones are things like fractures. I have known many people who ride (non-professionally) and she was doing everything right. But sometimes these things happen.

Nobody’s soft-selling anything. But you can also sit and watch TV all day and then get killed crossing the street to buy another bag of Fritos to nourish your fat behind. It’s sad that she died, but she knew the risks, and I think that she would rather have gone that way than on her way for more Fritos.

Some of you on this site are full-on retarded. This is a culture, if you didn’t grow up in the country and didn’t grow up around this stuff - buy yourself a giant cup of STFU.

Women, young women, have done rodeo for decades. Long before the feministas. Everyone who does rodeo knows the risks and what could happen - and that’s why they do it. For the thrill and many other reasons. Sorry if you don’t get it.

And for the baby boomers, you were this age once and you did dangerous things too and you know it. It was OK then, but just because you’re now pushing retirement doesn’t mean anyone under 50 needs a diaper and be spoonfed 3 meals a day. It just means you’re old. She was plenty old enough to do this stuff. It may not seem like it from your perspective, but your perspective doesn’t necessarily count for beans in the eternal sands of time.

It’s tragic she died, but more than likely she knew what she was doing and made the choice to take on the risks. I respect her taking the risk and living the way she wanted, as anyone who grew up in the country and around this stuff naturally would. It’s the old West philosophy - dieing with your boots on - which is supposedly celebrated around here. It’s sad but it was her choice.

I see you have nothing, so decided to flame. The ones who are too dumb to carry on a reasoned discussion often do.

Bravo! Well said. When I was 13 we lived near Ft Worth and
every weekend practically there was a youth rodeo somewhere.
One of my classmates was the champion at bull dogging and she was a
13 year old girl. I’m 69 now and cannot believe how wimpy some of the people have become. This is an accident. We have no idea how many times she rode without being hurt.

The tone of opportunistic felicitation is the author’s assumptive method of making this girl into a martyr for the cause of Feminism similar to how the Left uses children as political pawns for their agenda. Muzzies do exactly the same with their own people especially children.

“Have you seen the size of a Brahma bull? They are tough, ornery, hardscrabble critters”

When I was a kid we had a rodeo stock contractor keep his bulls in a pasture next to our house. Can you imagine being six years old and standing there face to face with a Brahma bull through a hogwire/two strand barb wire fence? One, “Old E” jumped over the fence into our pasture then hopped over another fence and left. The last I saw of him a kid was leading him back home behind a motorcycle. He was one that hardly anyone could ride, but after the rodeo they would put little kids on him and take their picture...

Yes, actually, it is legal for a 16 year old to do that. Soon the government will get its sticky fingers into that Personal Decision too, but for some reason they have overlooked it.

Do 16 year olds know that bulls can kill you? I imagine so. Do they think THEY will die? Never...

I didn’t “add to God’s words”, it seems you did my defining “dominion” to mean ‘I can do whatever the hell I like to an animal, including torture it to death, and justify it by using the Bible’.

A King is given “dominion” over his subjects, does that mean he can do whatever he wants with them?

[Pretty 16 year old Brooke Ann Coats had a passion in this life.# The above is the FIRST sentence of the article.]

Was in hurry and did not consider this 'first' paragraph being 'last' per excerpt. When I went to 'cont.' just dropped few lines down to 'her parents signed waivers'. . .too fast and My Bad for mixing the puzzle pieces.

(But thanks; good to know it WAS in first sentence, where it belonged.)

Yes, thought this WAS first paragraph;but in any case, it was 'my' first clue/cue, that this girl was too young to be riding bulls for sport. (Yes, horses AND cars are 'big and powerful' too. . .so the reasoning would go. Still, this bothers me.

Many people die every day, how many die doing something they absolutely LOVE? Brooke Ann did. . . .She smelled the bull, felt his power underneath her and was loving every minute of it. Would it have been easier, more PC or less heartbreaking if she'd been killed in a car wreck on the way home? No.

Don't know about family; but for sure, this is a Lib writing a sad obit and trying to deflect or alleviate what naturally follows.
