Girls are in far more danger when single moms allow their boyfriends to live with them. But don’t count on Ms Murray noting that.

I suspect that the bike never got over 25 mph.Exactly! They start at the Pentagon Parking Lot on a closed GW Pky accesses road and they never go over that much. Kiddie rides at the amusement park go faster.

Get a life, nuttin wrong here.
I grew up on the back of my dad's Triumph 650 back when that was a big fast bike, before the Japanese invasion of cheap bikes. There were no helmets in those days, and I was the luckiest kid in mid school because I got picked up every afternoon on a big bike.
My dad rode from the mid 20's till about 1970. I have some old pictures of him on his bikes before WW2. Before he passed away a few years ago, my best friend took his very nice HD by for him to see, and I also showed him a modern Jap rice rocket. He marveled at the changes that time had brought.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
I have many fond memories of riding on the back of my dad’s motorcycle as a little kid. That was FUN. I didn’t like wearing the helmet, but the rides were well worth that inconvenience.
This “issue” will only resonate with the liberals who encase their kids in bubble wrap for “play dates” that involve indoor activities only. Those who actually let their kids LIVE a little will smile in appreciation.

Plenty of people put a toddler on the back of a bike and go all over the place.
If Piper shouldn’t take a completely legal ride on a cycle, then she shouldn’t be in a “dangerous” car or bus, either.
Will bet you my house the author supports moms aborting babies.

Nah, I think Ms. Murray would’ve preferred for Piper and her siblings (especially that “useless eater, brain dead Trig”) to be aborted, from the sound of it. The Nazis may change their garb, but they’re easy to spot once you read what’s going on in the heads.

is this witch effing kidding? 10 year olds race all kinds of motorized vehicles, and she was with her dad. These nanny state libtards need to be rounded up, sterilized, and placed under commune arrest. The libtards around here would rather keep their kids off their hogs so they can go driving in their leather costumes and pretend to be bad-ass on the weekends. Mommy, can you watch my children this weekend so I can go play biker?

Same here! My mother would tell us to go outside and play and come back before it got too dark. My friends and I would explore the woods, ride our bikes, whatever. And then came winter and we got out...the snowmobiles! Ms. Liberal Writer would have fainted if she saw us on those!

Yep, my dad taught me to drive the tractor when I was the ripe old age of seven! I managed to keep it straight in the rows and turn at the end nicely.
Farm kids are around all kinds of dangerous machinery, and are carefully taught the dangers of each piece, what can happen if you get in the wrong spot, etc.
NYS won’t even allow “youts” under 18 to operate riding lawn mowers, or weed-whackers now!
Then we all complain when they are unprepared for the world of work, right?

She probably has a leash on him/her.Around 1995, I almost literally saw that in a mid-Toronto suburb. Some office-worker type was riding his bike and pulling his small son along with a leash tied to the son's little bike.
I remember thinking at the time: "better get used to that leash, kid."
To: LostInBayport
Those who actually let their kids LIVE a little will smile in appreciation. A little city vignette, that really happened: A middle-class private school in Southern California, population about ten zillion in 1,000 square miles of city, where the "rivers" are freeways and the hardscape is asphalt. It was raining, one of those neat So Cal rains where the drops are big, generous, and continuous, and the temps are in the 60s.
Some wonderful teacher or principal had let a bunch of kids take their shoes off in the middle of the day and go romp and run and stomp and cavort to their hearts' content in the rain. A bunch of, I'd say about 9-year-old boys and girls in their blue-white uniforms, no shoes, having a blast.
It was pretty neat to see.

What an absolute crock. I was tearing up the orchards and fields near my hometown when I was 11 years old and riding a Suzuki 75cc dirtbike. One of the greatest times I had as a kid. My parents never supervised me. Yeah, I had a few minor injuries, but so what? I lived and learned something that today’s bubble-wrapped kids never will.
