The Sarah Palin tease should stop
The Macon Telegraph ^ | September 9, 2011 | Erick Ericson, CNN Contributor & radio talk show host

Posted on 09/08/2011 10:22:27 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

On Fox News, Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham had the best discussion on Sarah Palin I have seen. And Ann said something I have said. But I have not said it nearly as well as Ann did.

To paraphrase Ann, a lot of us fell in love with Palin because of her enemies and a lot of us have fallen out of love with Palin because of her fans.

For the past year, Palin fans have become an online fixture with more venom and insanity than the most rabid Ron Paul fan. While evangelizing on behalf of Palin and trying to lead people to her side, they have freaked a lot of us out.

I am at the point of fearing that should Palin not get in the race we’re going to have a Hale Bopp moment with many of her most ardent supporters. These people have become too emotionally invested in one person to discuss that person rationally or even to address serious policy concerns.

For the longest time I wanted Palin to run.

At some point, I decided Palin could not defeat Barack Obama, but I’d rather go down fighting on Team Sarah than side with any of the guys who will just take us down the “big government conservative” path of creeping socialism.

Finally, I decided Palin was not going to run and I moved on. Ultimately, 2012 really is about beating Obama, not what Palin will or will not do.

Unfortunately, as I found out and as others are starting to find out, moving on from Sarah Palin is like leaving Scientology.

To not bow at the throne of Sarah you get disowned. You get attacked. You have people drum up stories attacking your credibility.

There are many, many good people who support Palin and feel like they owe it to her given what she has been through -- from her shoddy treatment at the hands of Team McCain to an unrelenting press. But these people who have sat and continue to sit patiently and quietly waiting for Palin to finally make up her mind are starting to get frustrated. And some of them are getting aggravated by and drowned out by The Palin Fan Cult.

The cult is full of people with little prominence outside a twitter stream, a few nominal soapboxes imagined to be bigger they are, and possessing a lot of bile and little grace inside an echo chamber of 2012 indecision dementia.

Palin is a great person. She’s a great fighter. She draws in awesome attention and rallies a crowd. She has some terrific and loyal supporters I don’t want to lump in with the loud voices largely now disconnected from political reality. But the unhinged mob only becomes more and more unhinged as Palin draws out her tease. Her cult of personality has begun comparing the tease to Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton’s late entries.

Those comparisons are frivolous. While Clinton waited until October of 1991 and Reagan until November of 1979, they’d previously made clear they were running. Few outside Palin’s most ardent fans think she is running and, at this point, a sizable majority no longer care.

As Ann Coulter said, “Fish or cut bait.” Gov. Palin has teased us long enough. Most of us are tired of it. She has harmed her own entry into the race and now, even if she got in, would only see a modest rise in polling.

Enough is enough.

Why is she consistently in third place, ahead of ALL the declared candidates save for Governors Perry and Romney, then? I wish some Perrywinkle or other candidate's supporter would explain that to me.

Because she has a base of support. Pretty easy to understand, huh?

She said a month ago she would announce her plans in September. She has 3 weeks left. All the people shouting “tease” should just chill.

They all said the same things about Reagan. I love her and I can’t stand them.

The media stomps its little foot and squeals in indignant, petulant disapproval. Mean old Sarah Palin isn't sitting up nice like a duck at the carnival for them to take their pot-shots at. These hissy fits are just more proof of how badly she terrifies the entire snivelling pack of them.

I quite frankly love it. The more she makes them squirm, the more they deserve their discomfort... it is all self-inflicted. Were she half as irrelevant as they pretend she is, they could just ignore her.

But they cannot, because she is anything but irrelevant.

Ever hear the saying, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"? Or, "Anything truly worth having is worth waiting for"? There is, of course, a threshhold at which she will cease building anticiaption and start losing "the faithful." She's not there yet, and will announce while the fervor is still waxing. She is the past master at this game, and the only ones she's "losing" are the filth she never had to begin with.

Duh-duh-duh-Dah-DAHHHH! I'm lovin' it!

You're a liar, Erick Ericson. You never wanted her to run, and now you're trying to undermine her with an insidious meme. You're a paid hack, a fraud, and a hypocrite.

And you're just stupid enough to actually, really believe your tactics are invisible to those you're lying to.

I did think Cuda would have launched the markets if she had announced her run after the the S&P downgrade.

Ericson is for Ericson. Supporting Sarah Palin wasn’t bringing him opportunity for notoriety, so he hitched himself to the next star upon which he could pontificate and use. I would call him fickle fanny.

He also gets off on tit for tat, he said, she said, and the Colter/Ingraham conversation was right up his alley.

I don’t think he ever really believed Palin would hold up, but he went along for the ride as long as he could use her.

True Palin supporters are going to stick with her, and I still believe that once she announces you will find a rejuvenated America. Not because of her star power, but because we support her record and the job she has done. She has been a straight shooter about her intentions all along. She hasn’t deceived anybody about her intentions.

I’m going to continue to support her no matter what she decides. She will make the best decision for herself, her family, and for the country. She will run when she thinks she can win it, or if she’s not satisfied a candidate she trusts can win it.

Screw Ericson...he will go wherever the wind blows him, or where he can make a buck.

Just another article attacking her on something other than the issues.

And another article attacking her supporters for supporting her, without bothering to debate even a single issue.

This is straw-man stuff.

Meanwhile she just keeps motoring on, articulating positions they supposedly would agree with (what with being fellow Repubs and all), attacking Obama and “his” cultists, which again should be something her “fellow Repubs” ought to agree with, she keeps leading the charge and creating political space for all the other candidates to operate in and all they can do is fling mud. Never issues. Just fog and mud.

Why is she consistently in third place

Don't sell her short, she's in second place in Alaska.

Intrade gives a 23.1% chance on the following event:

“Sarah Palin to formally announce a run for President before midnight ET on 31 Dec 2011”

Might be a good time to set up an Intrade account. Just sayin ...

Ingraham and Coulter do not get to tell Palin by when she needs to make an announcement. Palin already said it would happen by the end of September. That should be good enough for them. Palin has her reasons and her own right to decide when to announce. In the meantime she can speak to Americans wherever they gather, whatever her decision will be. All this publically expressed impatience with Palin not announcing yet is really too much.

Your right. You could make a lot of money when she runs. Make the bet. Out of all the candidates she only has to beat Perry. Easy money.

>>> Why is she consistently in third place, ahead of ALL the declared candidates save for Governors Perry and Romney

Wouldn’t the more pertinent question be “why is she consistently lagging so very far behind Governors Perry and Romney”.

The lib media can’t control her, so they call her a tease.
Funny, the people who say she is passe are the ones who are stressed out about all of this.

Did you really expect someone to respond to your inanity, or is it like breaking wind in the middle of Sunday church services? Do you really want us to believe that Barack Hussein Obama would win Alaska if he faced Sarah Palin in the general election?

On Fox News, Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham had the best discussion on Sarah Palin I have seen.

If Erick Ericson really believes that, he's a moron. That discussion was an embarrassment to watch. Good grief.
