Hum?
I still disagree on your assessment as to “All”.
You forgot women who have pierced ears in your list.

You can undo the unhealthy effects of eating junk food by starting a healthy diet. You could even undo the damage of naming a kid Gaquan by going to court and getting a normal name.

But how do you undo the damage a tattoo does? People with tattoos earn less. This kid is in danger living with a mother like his.

There is nothing wrong with getting ink. People get ink for many reasons.
And jpsb your arguments are making me chuckle since you are a Paul supporter. Sorta goes against what you been trumpeting. I guess you finally found your line you wont cross. ;-)

“Tattoos, nose piercings, lip piercings, tongue piercings, ear lobe stretching, private parts piercings, on and on to a grotesque level, are all identifiers of certain types of people. To a greater or lesser degree perhaps, but identifiers none the less. It simply is.”

Don’t forget circumcision to identify Jewish babies. Hopefully the Georgia law doesn’t cover that!

I have my ex-wife’s name and year of birth and year of death tattooed on my lower neck. I loved her, still do.

I have a good job and I am judged by my results which are very good. I’m very conservative. I am a good, family man.

I sometimes get asked - What’s that say? I like talking about her and using her name. I like looking in the mirror and seeing her name and thinking about her.

Don’t really care if people like it or not. It simply is.

The point Ari made was that parents - not the state - have the unilateral right to make bad decisions for their child.

I disagree. Abortion is way more serious a crime than tagging a 10 year old, but both crimes need laws protecting little children.

Ok, R. Are you sure about the earning less? It is a pretty blanket statement. Many people have ink that you may never know about. Are you talking about people who ink their face or parts that are visible? Just wondering.

If an adult wants to scar their body, so well it's their body. But a child, a 10 year old child I don't think so. If the child still wants a tattoo at 16 or older it's their choice.

And jpsb your arguments are making me chuckle since you are a Paul supporter.

Kinda blows away your argument that all Paul supporters are wacked out libertarians huh?

I don’t suppose there would be any arrest problem if she got her daughter an abortion.

I don’t suppose there would be any arrest problem if she got her son a tatoo celebrating Roe v. Wade.

Could always say it was done out of state ! What can they say at that point ?

I hope the mother or her lawyer will think of that point. I think a tattoo for a kid that young is stupid, but it's not the government's business. I hope she gets off since the DA can't prove the "crime" was committed in Georgia.

There are certain times when a medical condition precludes the usual treatment or procedure on a person because the treatment or procedure might prove harmful or even fatal.

When I worked for a hospital as a audiovisual tech, we had a case where a man--I don't know the name of the condition--would have very different blood pressure readings, depending on which arm the blood pressure cuff was placed. If the man were to become unconscious in, say, an automobile accident and was not able to tell medical personnel about the condition, incorrect treatment might kill him. He had that fact tattooed on his right arm to take a blood pressure readings on his left arm because of the condition.

But if the tattoo was done by an osteopath, suddenly everything is now OK!

Unless you are into pro-sports or are lucky in crime, tattoos - hidden or not - represent a counter culture. A culture found in prisons and welfare lines. And tatts on a girl? Everyone knows tramp stamps are a sign she’s “easy”.

Look - I could go on and on about the social harm and negative images that tattoos have. But hey - if you want them - get them. Like Chuntera and Gaquan

You can’t because the Nanny state will lock you up!

but it's not the government's business

I think that whenever one person deliberately, willfully and permanently physically harms another person it is always the business of government to punish the violator to discourage others from doing the same.

Wow.
That maybe the most misguided judgmental statement I have read on FR in a long time.
I feel very sorry for you, not sure how you could be more wrong in your generalization of people with ink.

Figures, you should try opening your mind just a little bit every now and then.

I want a NO CODE tattoo on my chest....Do not resuscitate is too long When I worked at the hospital someone was taking orders for a 14K gold charm that said NO CODE. Most of the nurses bought one, but that was long before gold was the price it is now...We see too many bad results from someone being coded, a few success's but lots of bad outcomes...My doctor is a young guy, (by my 70 year old standards) and when I told him I was a NO CODE, he said he was also...

There are a few things worse than death...(of course the persons age also figured into such thinking)
