In America (which obviously includes Florida), the problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line. W.E.B. Du Bois was correct when he wrote that in 1903. And hed be just as correct 109 years later by replacing the 20th century with the 21st century. Thats why I always say Im not a lawyer who happens to be a black man. Instead, Im a black man who just happens to be a lawyer. Accordingly, I view the February 26th shooting death of the stalked and confronted unarmed kid, Trayvon Martin, by the stalking and confronting armed adult, George Zimmerman, as an intentional and racist criminal homicide, not a mere happenstance and spontaneous killing. Therefore, Zimmerman should have beenand still should becharged with first, not second, degree murder. When asked by the police dispatcher if the business-minding, non-crime-committing person was white, black, or Hispanic, Zimmerman responded black. Lucky guess, I guess.

The title should have include “major BARF ALERT”
If Zimmermann had robbed a liquor store or carjacked somebody, then I would agree.
Stalked? As in hunted down?
Wow, so many Lies and intentional distortions in one piece.
We need to start DRUG TESTING ALL LAWYERS, furthermore this guy should have his license taken away for Making Deliberate False Statements and being just plain STUPID.
Glad you have not prejudged the case!
But after admitting to being a racist, (you think of the color of skin first) that is hardly a surprise........
I view myself as a human being that is an American, a Christian, who happens to be white.
This guy is right...if it went down like he thinks. But, if Trayvon, the kid with burglary tools in his school backpack, run-ins with the authorities, trapsing around in a private, gated neighborhood, was in fact checking out potential hits, and wanted to scare Zimmerman off by smacking him around, then the whole picture changes.
Those people who “always get away with it” are thugs who prey upon law-abiding homeowners, and the race identification was simply an answer to a question Z was asked. Z was just protecting his neighborhood and was accosted by an angry crook who didn’t like to be watched. Z defended himself when attacked and, thankfully, won the skirmish. I wonder how it feels now?
Zimmermans arraignment is scheduled for May 29th. Demand justice before then by immediately calling State Attorney Angela Corey at 904-630-2400 and insisting that she prosecute him as zealously as she prosecutes black kids (who look like Trayvon) and other kids of color.
What a racist hypocrite. This crap is from the same racers who cry “Racism” because blacks (13% of US population) comprise over 50% of prison population, so therefore we should give black criminals a pass and ease up on prosecuting them.
What Angela Corey SHOULD do is give Zimmerman a free pass. That way she could focus on the blacks killing other blacks. When 9 of 10 blacks killed are killed by other blacks then that’s something!
Oh wait. Al and Jesse don’t care about that. Happens alla time. No big deal. Nothing to see here - move on.
Except that there is no evidence that Zimmerman initiated the physical confrontation.
Have you read the farcical affadavit? According to it Zimmerman started the confrontation. Even though there is no evidence to substantiate that. Were I an attorney, I would have been embarrassed to submit that lame piece of garbage leading to the charges being filed. All Trayvon had to do was go on to his dad’s girlfriends place instead of acting all cranked up at being “dissed”.
Rather than quoting Du Bois, Michael Coard should be quoting Booker T. Washington:
There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.
Accordingly, I view the February 26th shooting death of the stalked and confronted unarmed kid, Trayvon Martin, by the stalking and confronting armed adult, George Zimmerman, as an intentional and racist criminal homicide, not a mere happenstance and spontaneous killing.
Stalking? Has anyone produced a map of the area with times showing where Zimmerman was when he made the various 911 calls, where Zimmerman claimed Martin was, where Zimmerman walked after he lost track of Martin and where the shooting happened? Such a map might put an end to this stalking claim. If it would have backed up the claim, I expect the MSM would have already used it to beat us over the heads.
And I believe the audio tapes record Martin as initiating the verbal confrontation with "Why are you following me?".
"..Michael Coard is a criminal defense attorney in Philadelphia and an adjunct professor in the African Studies Department and the Urban Studies Department at Temple University. He is a founding member of Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC), president of the Philadelphia Millions More Movement, a former state board member of the ACLU, and a founding member of Judging The Judges, as well as a member of the National Lawyers Guild,.."
"Except that there is no evidence that Zimmerman initiated the physical confrontation."
SYG is a side issue which may, or may not apply. In the end it doesn't matter which one initiated the physical confrontation. What's important is which one made it clear they wished to retreat. So far it sounds like the witness's and evidence support George wanting to retreat.
Florida law on self defense and an aggressor:
"776.041 Use of force by aggressor.--The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:
(1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or (2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself or herself, unless:
(a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or
(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force."

Story 1: The confrontation at the SUV
Story 2: The confrontation on foot, and what Zimmerman reportedly told police
Story 3: following Trayvon on foot, "between the town homes"
Story 4: Trayvon "tried to take Zimmerman's gun"
And this is the fifth:
According to Martha Maurer of KTAR who interviewed Dee Dee, Trayvon Martins girlfriend who was on the phone with Trayvon just moments before the fatal shot, she said that Trayvon Martin described George Zimmerman as creepy and said hes crazy. Shortly afterward, Dee Dee says she heard Trayvon Martin ask George Zimmerman why he was being followed and what was he doing. Dee Dee said, Trayvon got nervous and he said he gonna run around from the back, so he ran from the back and said he had lost him, but within a few seconds, Zimmerman was behind him again. Finally, Dee Dee said she heard Trayvon Martin being pushed to the ground.
Boy, you sure love spreading the liberal point of view on this story, don’t you?
