Is there such a thing as ‘too sexy’?
It is beach volleyball for goodness sake. What do you want, burkas?
Put them in sweatsuits and tell me how the ratings are then. Guys like hot women, and hot women like to show off. It’s probably a bunch of women slobs doing the majority of the whining.
I have always loved the sight of beautiful women but athletics competition is not the proper place to display nearly their entire body.
Why do you think anyone watches women’s beach volleyball?
Need more evidence to decide, please post pictures
In a word...
This thread is useless without pictures.
If anything, their bikini’s are way too big! I say reduce the size by 20%.
That is probably correct. If that is the only reason people watch is to see hot bodies then they should simply play nude.
No; but, I would like something a little closer to what the guys are wearing for "beach" volleyball. Honestly, who really thinks "beach" volleyball is a sport? Wasn't regular volleyball sufficient.
I loved an interview I saw with one of these gals where she was defending the costume she wears by saying she didn't think it was at all inappropriate. Half her butt is hanging out the back, this is not appropriate, and it is not a sport when what you are mainly talking about is the way the women LOOK in their "uniforms".
What an Ignorant Question who the hell cares as long as their suits are made in the USA ...... and of course they win ! Besides our women would be sexy in raincoats and slickers ! I’m a little biased .....
Let’s be serious here for a moment:
Women like to be looked at.
They don’t want more that that from most guys, but all women like to be looked at.
The two opponents of beach volleyball uniforms.
I offer no objections.
ping out poll voter list...
You’re just jealous you don’t look like that.
Yes. They can wear t-shirts and shorts - the men do, and they can play just fine.
T-shirts and shorts can be very cute and attractive. They don’t need to play in their underwear.
Here’s a novel idea: if you don’t like the uniforms, simply do not watch it. Pretty easy solution IMHO.
I’m with you, yarddog. I’ve noticed the American team has been putting on shirts, and I think that’s good.
I’ve noticed very skimpy swimsuits, and running suits all along the way and I don’t like the trend. Last night watching the women track competitors I’ve noticed most of them half naked.
I know they used to compete naked in ancient Greece but they also used to whip false starters. Many people watching the Olympics have standards of modesty that they don’t like to watch all the flesh.
The Olympics are about excellent, not decadence.
By the way, found this interesting link about the Olympics. It was written by an IT guy who has terrible spelling skills, but it is interesting.
They are wearing lingerie, not uniforms.
If women in these sports want to be taken seriously, they need to quit with the strip tease routine every time they take the field.
The indoor VB women do wear appropriate uniforms.
And, yes, I look, but it is no more a sport than the pole dancing down at the Pink Pony.
So the women can choose to go topless? Sounds good to me.
If you don’t like the uniforms, you’re probably a homo, so we can totally ignore your opinion.
I told my husband that I had a real problem calling these women ‘serious athletes’ when they’re constantly picking their shorts out of their butts.
When they’re wearing less than the women’s swim team, they’re just being ridiculous. (I do give swimmers and divers a lot of leeway on this. Every tiny thing can mess up drag.)
Yes, they’re using sex appeal for ratings. And yes, it does distract from the actual sport.
(As I type this, we’ve got the men’s volleyball game on TV. They’re wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts and they’re playing just fine. So there’s no justification for women to wear nothing more than a sports bra and underwear.)
Now, if someone wants to make the point that sex sells and that near-naked women attract viewers... that’s fine.
But then I want some eye-candy for myself.
Bring on the oil and the bright-red banana hammocks!
Did anyone see that incredible soccer kick the US did against Russia in their game? I didn’t even know kicking the ball was legal in Volleyball, but you have to see it. The American kicked the ball in the air, setting up a perfect spike.
no one would watch if not for the hot chicks..... Do ya see old fat hairy dude volleyball? Course not...
Why dont you back up and read my post # 12 before spouting off, pal.
Been watching for 5 mins,,, what sport was that.??. Lol...
I love the little gymnast, Gabby, but my sons took one look at her and said, “She has a serious case of atomic wedgie. These games are a pedophile delight.”
It made me uncomfortable just to watch her. The other girls costumes were not as bad.
Just how do you quote small videos?
Was just discussing with my younger daughter the other evening how the female volleyball players have some of the best figures of any athletes. To force a uniform change would be a bad thing. Let the competitors wear whatever works best for their gameplay. If the photographers are a bunch of immature leering weenies, fire them and replace them with more mature people. But don’t punish the women for “being too sexy” when their main goal is victory over the other team. And don’t punish the fans who admire that the high level of skill and training also results in an attractive visual. There’s a big difference between admiring and gawking.
They are playing vollyball?
The Olympic discussion should be on whether the uniforms should have an official design so as to promote “fairness” It’s an extremely important issue which must be addressed.
For example, Western beach volleyball teams in bikinis have an obvious advantage over Muslim teams in full burkhas with slits for viewing and robes that cover the body down to their toes. That means the teams of countries with over 100 million people cannot play on a level sand.
And what about the plight of transgendered and transvestite vollyballers of whatever country?
Obama and the Democrats should get behind the Committee for Olympic Volleyball Uniform Fairness. It’s the right thing to do.
I wonder if this is the only thing holding interest in the olypics this year.
She is quite an athlete...
Michelle Jenneke makes me happy.
There’s far more to it than that. These women are so naked and exhibitive (the nature of the sport is to exhibit, yes? but not necessarily naked) that it really is almost inappropriate for kids.
How do you tell your kids they can’t watch the Olympics because both women and men are dressed indecently?
My friend turned them off in her house. It’s not fair to people with standards that they can’t watch such a premier event because they are so contaminated with the quest for ratings (and yes I do believe that is what it is all about).
What was the question again?
