One Week, something queer with how the Navy picks commanders.

"One Week, something queer with how the Navy picks commanders. "

Given recent developments, that might just be a single entendre.

The guy probably got laid somehow. Today officers need to be T-totaling, MBA types. Skinny looking things, who busily train for marathons, and crave to go to the JFK school of government. It’s preferred that they be asexual, or at least gay if they don’t have the decency to be some sort of castrati.

Thats who they think we will win wars. (nevermind the last decade)

Are show tunes involved, or perhaps that would be a resume emhancement now-a-days?

Homosexuality is fine with them, if he was relieved over sex, you can be it was hetero. He could admit to being a sodomite and kiss a man at the change of command ceremony. But Katie bar the door if he cast an admiring glance at a lovely female.

"Our Navy has a very clear and unambiguous standard regarding the character of our commanding officers, spelled out in the charge of command," Parks said in a statement. "I reviewed this charge with Cmdr. Ward before he assumed command. He understood the Navy's high standards for command leadership and he failed to uphold them."

That's right. CDR Ward should have attended the Holly Graf Leadership Academy. He would have lasted a whole lot longer than a week!

http://www.theday.com/article/20120812/NWS09/120819922/1047/NWS

‘’The woman said she met Ward, 43, on a dating website in October. She said Ward, who is married with children, told her her he was separated and that he worked in “special ops.” She said he got her pregnant then, in an effort to end the relationship, faked his death in an email communication in July.’’

She supposedly contacted NCIS and the master chief of the boat, and passed on the messages, after she went to Ward’s house to pay her respects and found out from the new owners that he moved away to take command of a submarine...

There’s enough plausibles in the story to give a bit of a ring of truth. The part that disturbs me is her being 23 and experienced enough to know to contact the chief of the boat. That speaks of someone who’s got some experience in harassing someone in the Navy.

the folks i served with 20 years ago would be disgusted at the navy of today. unfortunately those of us with half a brain got out, leaving the REMFs to ‘manage’ the navy today.

CDR Ward was relived for impregnating a 23 year old woman he met on a dating site last year and for faking his own death.

This is pathetic and means we need a stricter CO screening process. The submarine service should not be compromised by social engineering.

The CO, XO, and COB should be shining examples of our Navy Core Values. Each incident chips away at the image for all those doing it right.

The best CO I ever had was on USS Maryland (SSBN 738) in 1994/1995. He was married to the same woman 30+ years, nice children and went to church service twice a week.

Had to check if the Pittsburgh is one of the boats with female officers; it isn’t. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a sexual thing, though; a shiny new domestic abuse charge might have done it.

Prior to letting the queers sexually out of the closet, there are military men who have reported being raped... Most men, like boys do not report sexual abuse. It’s only going to get worse now.

Likewise, any man who has sexually harassed other, smaller and weaker males by calling them homos, are going to be taken out by the homos.

The military has suffered the culture’s loose sexual morals and standards. Now that the feminazis (lesbos and homos) are back on top heterosexual men are going to suffer harassment to the other extreme.

Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner. Either that or he made some offhand, disparaging comment about homosexuals and got reported by the Gay Mafia.

I forget where I read it, but someone hit the nail square on the head -- in wartime, you wind up promoting those who have shown the ability to get the job done under fire, in peacetime, those promotions go to the more typical managerial types.

The top brass (and the civilian overseers) want the military to run like an accountant's office.

Well, that's logical, isn't it? You can never know who will respond under fire and who will fold until they've actually been in that situation. We had a PL in my Company who was a royal screw-up in just about any/every situation, but when the shooting started, even I had to admit, he kept his cool and worked the situation. Then there was a guy in a different Company, big, bad, tough guy, Ranger, loud, etc. who was relieved for cowardice (deservedly so).

You just never know.

Boy, did you just nail it! I retired last year & don’t have to worry about the PC cr@p anymore. Now I know I won’t be court-martialed for the sign I put up on the unit bulletin board:

“Official Army Equal Opportunity Policy:

“NO SOLDIER SHALL BE DENIED EQUAL RIGHTS BECAUSE OF THE SHAPE OF HER SKIN.”

The females went postal. I was there when one snatched it off the wall and yelled, “Who put this up? WHO PUT THIS UP!!!?” I nearly choked suppressing a huge giggle fit.

;^)

His e-mail was not well thought out... Dearest XXXXX, I am sad to report that I have died and will not be able to see you any more. Please do not try to contact me, as I am clearly dead. Love, Ward

In peacetime “paper bullets” are as deadly to officers and senior NCO’s as real bullets in wartime. Usually the paper-variety kills the warriors who would otherwise be your leaders.

Well that does go beyond some fast food I suppose.

But...he got her pregnant?

It takes two to do that unless he forcefully raped her.

Not sure this is sub commander material behavior though, have to see how it plays out.

..I'm still trying to figure out how adultery works in the ‘New New Navy’, perhaps it is a heterosexual only rule. In either case, committing it, even with a willing partner, is a career ender for a commanding officer.

Doesn't matter how it really plays out, his career ended already. It's just shuffling paperwork before retirement now.

Yeah, I have to agree.

Regardless of any details in this particular situation, adultery committed by a commanding officer is utterly unacceptable.
