Kind of odd that an officer with 26 years experience would be involved in this kind of incident. He must have felt threatened in some way. But, yeah, life as he knew it is over. And Walmart is going to be sued big time as well.

It does say he was in fear of his life.

How big a story it becomes probably depends on whether the cop was white or not. If he was white, expect the usual suspects to come and whip up emotions. If he was African-American, it will just be a local story.

It's too bad that someone died, but at least it wasn't the cop (assuming the facts as presented are reasonably accurate).

There is no basis for a lawsuit, especially in Texas.

The perps were obligated to stop, and placed their own lives at risk by running.
