Commentary: B37 Spells Bingo for George Zimmerman (Trial was "rigged" against Trayvon or somethin')
Black Entertainment Television's Fighting Words! ^ | July 16, 2013 | Keith Boykin

Posted on 07/16/2013 8:02:03 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Defense attorneys knew a jury of five white women and one Hispanic woman would find it difficult to identify with the humanity of a Black teenage boy.

When I was a kid in Florida, I remember the old folks used to play Bingo. As far as I could tell, it was purely a game of luck. If they called your number, you simply moved your chip onto the appropriate space on the board.

But what if a player controlled the boards that were distributed or the numbers that were called. That would obviously raise a ruckus, of course, unless it was done in a way that made it seem fair.

That's the sinking feeling I got Monday night when I watched the televised CNN interview with Juror B37, the first juror from the George Zimmerman trial to go public. Watching the inconsistencies in her logic made me remember those Bingo games and how seemingly neutral systems could be constructed in a way to guarantee a particular outcome.

One day when I was young, I discovered my grandmother had rigged a church Bingo game so that her best friend's granddaughter could win a bicycle. Young and naive, I challenged her. "Oh, the white folks do it all the time," she blithely responded. I didn't believe her back then. Then I saw Juror B37.

By her own words Monday night, Juror B37 made the case to convict Zimmerman of manslaughter. After listening to all the evidence, half of the jury initially felt Zimmerman was guilty but the other jurors persuaded them to change their minds. Although B37 was one of the initial not guilty votes herself, her own statements to Anderson Cooper actually make the case for manslaughter.

"George Zimmerman is guilty of not using good judgment," she told Cooper....

They constantly say the jury couldn’t relate to Trayvon. Unfortunately the country has been convinced that Trayvon was on trial. Too many dumbasses in this country.

Who's peers should this jury have been made up of?

Trayvon Martin was a teenager from Miami; George Zimmerman is an adult resident of Sanford. It was Zimmerman who was on trial.

If America gets lucky, blacks will grow up and realize trials are exercises in law, not identifying with the humanity of this group, that, or some other.

I call BULLSH*T: B37 said what she said on a known LIBERAL network to make herself look more sympathetic to the public.
This loser wants everybody to like her after their names all become public, as we know they will.
If she felt or believed strongly about the verdict she could have easily held out for a hung jury.

What I want to know is if Zimmerman is going to sue Martins guardians for the gay bias attack he suffered at the hands of their minor son. Oh no? Well the news was out today that Trayvons girlfriend said Trayvon thought Zimmerman was a homosexual and that is why Zimmerman was following him. If so, then his attack on Zimmerman was a gay bias attack which Democrats are fanatically against. Did Zimmerman not suffer wounds to his body because of this gay bias attack?

Thanks for this, it helps to explain in some part the national black outcry.

...half of the jury initially felt Zimmerman was guilty but the other jurors persuaded them to change their minds.

The author misses a couple of important points. First, serving on a jury and deciding guilt or innocence is not an exercise that lends itself to "feelings"; rather it is an intellectual exercise that requires the use of logic.

Secondly, the author misunderstands that fortunately half of the jurors were able to persuade the other half to disregard their feelings - much of which no doubt was based on BS news media reports and the views of national race pimps - and to use their minds.

Is B37 the juror who moved to Florida from Chicago ?

Why is she not in fear like all the other jurors? Is it because she has some ‘federal’ protection ?

It appears to me the idea now is to discredit the jurors, and that this woman was a plant all along. She couldn’t sway the other jurors to her side (she admitted she voted ‘guilty’ the first time, correct?) so they had to resort to PLAN B: Make it appear that the jurors were all idiots so that the DOJ can get the public’s backing for federal charges.

This guy is either an idiot, or is manipulating the facts to suit his agenda (p*ss-poorly, I'd add - so maybe I'm being redundant with those two options).

Self-defense is an absolute rationale for use of deadly force. There's NO evidence that Zimmerman initiated the physical altercation, and it's easy to conclude that it was Martin who really threw the first punch.

Zimmerman being out of his vehicle, following and observing Martin (which is the grounds this guy seems to be citing) is not illegal. It gave Martin ZERO standing for coming back at Zimmerman physically.

So in the absence of any evidence of who threw the first punch, or that Zimmerman was behaving in an illegal manner that provoked the physical phase of the confrontation, the determination MUST be made based on the situation when Zimmerman pulled his gun out and shot Martin.

The evidence CLEARLY demonstrates that Martin was on top pummeling Zimmerman in a manner consistent with creating fear of great bodily harm and/or death.

That's grounds for lethal use of force for self-defense. Open/Shut.

"Who's peers should this jury have been made up of?"

Jesse Jackson wins the award for Loud-Mouthed Reverse-Brain Idiocy in this affair. He complained about the all-white jury saying that "Trayvon did not get a jury of his peers," pushing the idea that a "peer" is a person of one's own race.

But Trayvon was not the accused. It was George "the White" who was on trial. And according to Jackson's own formula, George DID have a right to an all white jury.

And of course, earlier in time, Jackson publicly admitted that he practices racial profiling against blacks.

Defense attorneys knew a jury of five white women and one Hispanic woman would find it difficult to identify with the humanity of a Black teenage boy.

The defense attorneys knew that they wanted to avoid black jurors because black people almost always side with their race. You can just look at the pre-trial polls where whites and Hispanics were split as to whether Zimmerman was guilty, but 90+% of blacks were convinced Zimmerman is guilty. Blackness uber alles.

Given that whites and Hispanics had more varied views on the case than blacks wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask -- Why do black people find it so difficult to identify with the humanity of a Hispanic man? After all, that Hispanic man's life could have been extinguished that night, and for all intents and purposes his life could have been extinguished by the verdict. Yet little to no care by the black community.

In the end, it's not the defense attorneys job to fulfill some sort of jury diversity quota or to appease agitators. Their job is to defend George Zimmerman and that entailed using voir dire to keep people who would be biased against their client off the jury.

If this author wants to cry about no black people on the jury, then the only people to blame are the prosecutors. Not the defense attorneys, not the legal system, not America, but the prosecutors who failed to get people on the jury that would most instinctively side with Trayvon Martin.

The defense and prosecution settled on these jurors through voir dire.

Each attorney can dismiss prospective jurors for any and no reason until there are 6-12 jurors left.

You can’t hang the makeup of a jury on the defense. The prosecution played an equal role in the selection process

Trayvon Martin was a teenager from Miami . . ...
with two felonious acts on his Miami record, expelled from school, sent to Sanford to live w. father’s girl friend; purchased ingredients for concocting a mind-bending drug, of which Skittles is said to be an “enhancing” additive; was reported to be 6’-2” tall and weighing abt. 170 pounds (a teen-aged child, according to Bob Beckel, Fox News), and fully capable of pounding Zimmmerman’s face to a bloody pulp and his brain to a puddle of mush if not deterred by explosive force.
