What exactly does it take for a man with domestic abuse complaints and a fatal shooting to lose access to weapons?
Exactly what happened on Monday between George Zimmerman and his estranged wife, Shellie, in Lake Mary, Fla., is still in doubt — but seeing the words “Zimmerman,” “gun” and “altercation” strung together once again has turned Zimmerman into a lightning rod for questions regarding gun violence and domestic abuse in the United States.
Based on the initial report, Shellie called the police that day claiming Zimmerman, brandishing his firearm, was threatening her, daring her to “step closer” to him. “I don’t know what he’s capable of. I’m really, really scared,” she told the emergency dispatcher. He violently destroyed her iPad, she said, allegedly cutting through the device with his pocketknife. He also apparently came to blows with her father, and allegedly exhibited the complete lack of self-control and dangerously poor judgment for which the public has come to know him.
But because Shellie changed her story only hours later — saying she never saw a firearm, and that she wouldn’t press charges — there was no domestic violence report filed. Absent that, the police didn’t pursue a warrant to search Zimmerman’s vehicle for the gun he may or may not have used to threaten Shellie.
Whether or not Zimmerman had a gun on him that day, one thing remains clear: The gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin may still be lawfully returned to him. And he is, according to recent reports, looking to buy more.
Which invites the question: What does a person have to do in this country to get a gun taken away? Or lose the right to a concealed carry permit?(continued)

Why is it that the liberals want to take guns away form conservatives but protect criminals?
I am of the opinion that if you are free, walking around, and not under any type of probation/parole, then you should have all rights restored. If one cannot abide a felon being released and owning a gun, then why was said felon released to begin with?

I’m far more comfortable with Zimmerman’s 2nd Amendment rights than I am with that diddlebrains 1st Amendment rights. Morons like her are infinitely more malevolent and destructive than all the Zimmerman’s in the world.

Well Katie, the domestic abuse charge was a LIE and the shooting was SELF DEFENSE.
So, there is NO REASON to deny his Second Ammendment Rights!

Marxists are deathly afraid we patriots might rise up in righteous wrath and overthrow their oligarchy; they'd also like to disarm any- and everyone but the military and police, but don't quite dare say so. I see three strange, terrible ironies in all this:
1.) We patriots are actually law-abiding to a fault.
2.) As always, so-called "gun control" laws are written in acute, chronic, yet never mentioned terror of non-white young males with firearms.
3.) Ultimately, "gun control" schemes are an expression of leftist extremist hatred of the Second Amendment and all us commoners who believe it means exactly what it says.
Blind hatred never sees very far ahead.
I am speculating here but, I suspect that poor silly Katie McDonough missed that part that says “CONVICTION OF A CRIME”
Since Mr. Zimmerman has nothing more that a couple of traffic convictions on his record, he probably has at least as clean a record as poor silly Katie McDonough. DUMB DUMB DUMB

They were defeated in the courts, so now they're trying to win the propaganda war of public opinion.
And when the creeps hang, it will come as a complete surprise.
Anyone watching the surveillance video can see where she lied to the dispatcher.
Then she told two different stories to two officers taking statements.
And if you pay close attention to her lawyer's careless wordsmithing yesterday it becomes clear that she did hit him with the IPAD as George alleges.
Why she didn't just get in the vehicle when George arrived and left instead of calling her attorney and then 911 is very curious.

I think that is what Trayvon was trying to do. He got shot for it, and that is what should happen to anyone who attempts to deprive a lawful gun owner of his gun.
