With every passing day, I am more convinced that the left wants to create right-wing extremism by characterizing normal conservativism as extremist. When conservativism is effectively outlawed, conservatives become actual outlaws.
This reminds me of the run-up to the Spanish Civil War, when the ruling left and its allies in the street became more and more extreme, more and more violent, until a violent right-wing reaction was inevitable.

This is how the Nazis silence and ultimately isolated the Jews. Exact same process. So, who are the Nazis now again? The LW Democrats

Ooh, an opportunity to watch “Get woke go broke” in action.
What percentage of knitters support Trump? I’d bet it’s over 50%.

As an experienced moderator, I always ban religion and politics unless that is the topic of the discussion group. It can’t do anything but harm.
To: proxy_user
It’s a smart move, for sure.
The opposite of that smart move is what Ravelry is doing - NOT banning the topics, only particular opinions on those topics.
Talk about a policy that may as well have been designed to generate blowback!

My daughter is really bummed by this. Understand that this was completely unnecessary - it’s a site for hobbyists, not a social media site.
They claim that they aren’t banning republicans but they are saying that, if you are a pubbie, you are a “hater” and beneath contempt.
Idiots.

"We are definitely not banning conservative politics. Hate groups and intolerance are different from other types of political positions," the new policy said. So, they believe the Republican Party is a "hate group?"
Or are they just not allowing anyone to say anything supporting the Republican Party?
Sounds a bit like old East Germany or where Communist China is headed.

Yes, they are going to lose a great many subscribers, including me. Ravelry is one of the biggest, or was.

I know I always go to knitting websites to discuss politics.
But seriously; I frequent an Electric Bicycle forum (Electric vehicles of all types, but bicycles and scooters get the most interest) And a satellite television discussion site..... I never even venture into their off-topic political sub-forums, because I know my Conservative opinions wouldn’t be welcome there, and their stupid opinions would only irritate me.
