"Real Time" host Bill Maher doubled down Friday on his desire for the U.S. economy to fall into recession in hopes of blocking a second term for President Trump -- telling his panel of guests any hardship that results would be "very worth" it.
"I've been saying for about two years that I hope we have a recession and people get mad at me," said Maher, a multimillionaire who would likely be well insulated from a financial downturn.
“I’m just saying we can survive a recession," he continued. "We've had 47 of them. We've had one every time there's a Republican president! They don’t last forever, You know what lasts forever? Wiping out species!”
The HBO star then pointed to a U.N. report warning how many species of plants and animals are at the risk of extinction and went on to blast the Trump administration for rolling back regulations from the Nixon-era Endangered Species Act "like any evil villain would do."

Crony Capitalist Obamaite Warren Buffet’s been in cash since early July waiting for the market to correct. GDP and consumers aren’t playing along so far. Additionally, foreigners are buying USTs and stocks for higher returns than what they can get in their own countries. This isn’t helping Doomers either.
Don’t they realize it’s their Pals’ Crony Capitalist socialized economies in Europe which are failing and causing money to flow into US markets? No, they don’t because they don’t think the system which works for them is a poor economic system.
President Trump is the President of growth and prosperity. The fact that Bill Maher would destroy that if he could, while he stays personally rich, says a lot. He’d rather be a rich man who stands out among a destitute population than a rich man in a middle class society where most people live as well as he, albeit less opulently. He has a serious case of wanting to flaunt superiority, compounded by an utter lack of empathy for other people.
