Burger King in South Africa is dropping the word ham from its menu, after adding bacon at some of its stores, in order to be respectful of Muslim customers.
On Friday, the chain confirmed it has changed the names of three of its products. What was previously known as a Double Spicy Hamburger will now just be a Double Spicy Burger; the Triple Hamburger with Cheese becomes the Triple Burger with Cheese, and a Hamburger King Jr. on the kids menu will now be just a Kids Burger.
The names are being changed to be more respectful of its halaal client base, the chain said in a statement.
The name changes will apply across all Burger Kings in South Africa, including those that now serve bacon. [ ]
A hamburger is by definition made of minced beef and does not contain pork. The ham is in reference to the German city of Hamburg, where hamburger patties were supposedly first made. Burger King knows this, South African chief operating officer Juan Klopper told Business Insider South Africa on Friday, but it still wants to avoid any possible confusion.

Now this is some non-fake news I wish were fake and/or satire. The Ham in Hamburg translates as water meadow, so this is preemptive dhimmitude based on false friend linguistic mistakes of all things.
So we have to change the name of hamburger to avoid offending Muslims?? What the heck? This sounds like satire or parody.
Well, they apparently have one in the US that is beefless so........... But bacon is okay? Well it’s awesome for me. And, let’s not get started on the whole “I’m allergic to bacon.” theme again.
Reminded of a few years back, when a guy lost his job for using the word “Niggardly”... Sigh.....
This, from the same people who were handed AK-47s and put the rear sight up to maximum range. The logic being the rifle needed more power the shoot a bullet 800 yards. So wanting it to shoot as hard as possible, they put the throttle all the way up.
Well, they could always call them a “Royale with Cheese”.
(Face palm) Geez, Not this stuff again!
Who are they trying to fool?
“The names are being changed to be more respectful of its halaal client base...”
Translation: Muslims are too stupid to understand hamburgers don’t contain ham.
They must all change their names to avoid offending someone...
Hamas: it contains “ham” so it offends Muslims and must be disbanded ASAP!
If hamburgers are made from beef, why do they call them HAAAMMMMMM-burgers?
So they won’t set foot in Hamburg, Germany or West Ham, England?
“Hamas: it contains ham so it offends Muslims and must be disbanded ASAP!”
Excellent. Best post. :)
Ironically, Hamtramck, Michigan has a high Muslim population.
