The left-wing media loves those phony demonyms . . . “Palestinians” and “Europeans” particularly, as with “Soviet people” in the past . . .

I say not only “no” but “hell no” to a buying a ChiCom-built vehicle. No way, no how. No matter what make, no matter what model.

This article reeks of rotten fish heads, Chinese propaganda. 50K on a car, then another 30K in four years to replace the battery. The truth is you can sell used EVs. Customers are not buying EVs. The scam is over.

EV’s are fine in a very limited range of uses.
Warm weather urban areas , retirement communities (some golf carts are ev’s )
Other than that - they are of not much use and will be problematic when they reach end of useful life and can’t be disposed of efficiently.
If I was living in a retirement community in the sun belt somewhere I’d probably consider buying one but until then I like my diesel pick up.

to launch an investigation into Beijing’s support for its EV industry.

Why?

They sure subsidize their ev’s as do we with forced taxpayer contributions.

Everything we say to dismiss Chinese electric cars today echoes what we said about those cheap Japanese “rice burner” cars 50 years ago. Look at how that ended up...

Bet you will buy one once they “drive” the Western car companies out of business. Or maybe you will take public transportation when the car workers are unemployed, which leads to car sellers and car repair businesses gone, stores gone, restaurants gone... etc.

Can I imagine the ChiComs putting GM and Ford out of business? Maybe. Can I imagine the ChiComs putting the Germans and Japanese out of business? No.

Germans yes, Japanese maybe. German is a high cost exporter with high labor costs. EVs use less labor and if coming from China, very low cost labor. So the hand writings on the wall for German car industry unless they go full robots. But what to do with laid off workers?

Also China does not need to earn a profit, they are a tool of the CCP.

False comparison.

In the past (and still today), the ICE versus ICE competition favored the Japanese due to better quality control. US companies, which were probably already taken over by leftists (see the 45 communist goals for the USA: goal #37 states “Infiltrate and gain control of big business”), coddled trade unions (themselves run by leftists, per communist goal #36) and flouted quality control to a great degree, which frustrated many in the industry, particularly John DeLorean whose warnings about this fell on deaf ears. The notion of subsidizing auto manufacturing was not an issue here FWICS.

In the case of the EU, Red China is flooding the “social market economy” (as they call it there) with subsidized cheap junk firetraps, quality control not even a consideration in this instance; just quantity. The EU has the problem of a dearth of charging locations just like the USA. These vehicles (loosely termed) would be suitable only for short trips from city to city and/or within cities and suburbs. Zero resale value due to the problems with battery disposal. And of course, only targeted examples in the left-wing media.

I can only imagine GM and Ford putting themselves out of business due to making junk.
