I never said Genesis was a fairy tale.

Semantics as usual. You said that neither the words of Christ nor Genesis were true (see post# 100), in post #91 you called Christ's statement that Adam and Eve were real people as a lie. How else can your statements be characterized if not that you disbelieve in both the New Testament and the Old Testament?

Again, you call yourself a Christian so I ask you again the question you refuse to address:

What part of Christianity do you believe in? What part of the Bible do you agree with?

jk ...

In my life, as an active researcher in Chemistry and Physics, science is just man's effort to understand what God hath wrought. The only people I see rejecting God in favor of what they call 'science' are those whose ego cannot stand the thought of a being superior to themselves

I, no doubt, have a much more limited science background than you, but it is much stronger that most. I have graduate courses in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and a smackarale (sp?) of physics. Undergraduate courses in Chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, microbiology etc.

That being said, the more more I learn of the inner workings of the cell. The harder time I have even just contemplating that it was all just an accident.

"Abandon hope, all who lurk here."

Actually, it appears that statement is most-applicable when attempting to discern any "f.Christian" post.

what is with the "xx // yy --zz" nonsense?

Wait - I got it - he's typing in tongues!

Creationism = Biblical Nonsense // ignorance is bliss //head in da sand.

Hey! I can do it too!

Jr.,
Interesting that now alone do you care as to the salvatory requirements. The exclusionary nature of your response speaks for itself. The man above states that all truth will be revealed post humously (who would/could argue that?) Ok, Ok, the inference was that you were hellbound, but was it not John (JC's best friend) who blatanly stated "in the beginning was the word...and the word became flesh and dwelt among us."? So JC's pre-existence should be acknowledged. Um, for clarification purposes, are you saying you are Christian (ie: one who believes in the sacrificial, penal, atonement of Christ on the cross, and his subsequent resurrection?)???(y/n please)
1 more Q.: When God made man, he is said to have created him from mud---When Jesus healed the (one of many) blind man, he spit into dirt (made mud) and spread it on the man's eyes (definitely a "creative" act.) Was this not a statement of his earlier pre-existence?

I followed your first link, to the FAQ.

Opening page known transitions and 1st page of the Introduction, assumed to be closely related.

"Assumed knowledge" is not "known facts"...

I stopped there. There's no point in following their logic; they're without hope.

Hell, even the head of my church, the Pope, has accepted the scientific validity of evolution.

The head of your church accepts a lot of stuff that isn't true... things like, he's head of the church.

I'm a card-carryin' excatholic. Thank you very much...

Funny, I started reading the Bible and found out all that I was taught by the RCC; wasn't true.

Funny, I read the Bible from cover to cover twice (and several of the books individually several more times), and I don't find Catholicism to be in contradiction. What you meant was your personal interpretation of Scripture and that of the Church did not mesh.

When the church twists things to say what ain't said; yeah, I suppose you could say our interpretations did not mesh.

Matt 23:9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

and every priest is father so-and-so, and some of them are a real so-and-so.

So you called your dad by his first name, I take it? Ever thought it was talking about putting other gods before God? No one mistakes a priest for God -- except for the average Protestant trying to score points.

I called him "dad" or "pa". Priests set themselves up to be "as gods" by forgiving sins?.

I'm an above-average Protestant, as I know of that which I'm protesting.

You know, I've been a Catholic for 40 years now, and my wife converted in 2002; neither of us has heard a priest say he's forgiven our sins.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [1Jo 1:9]

Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. [Jam 5:16]

Why then, the confessional? Why not confess to the one or ones you sinned against? If the sin wasn't of a personal nature, but rather against a Holy and Just God; confess to Him; not a priest.

Forgive was a wrong word, absolution was the word I should have used.

BTW, how many "hail-marys" did your last sin cost ya? how many first Fridays? how many first Saturdays? how many rosaries?

NO, I don't really want to know. Think about it, though.

None. Father Joe is pretty creative in his penances. I was enjoined to watch how I conducted myself daily.

Man, you must've ceased being a Catholic around grade school. As you get older the penances become more adult-like.
