present US Aid funds are very very low, compared to what it is CAPABLE of giving

No one is stopping you from giving every last dime to them.

I would encourage you to do so, before you go sucking it out of MY pocket.

And you talk about the brutality of Saddam? FYI , last year in a state called "Guajarat" in India(a country with which the US claims to have "strong relations" with, right now) over 20,000 muslims were killed by DEMOCRATICALLY elected leaders in span of THREE days. That's more than what Saddam killed in the last decade of his regime! And what about Pol Pot, under whose regime ONE million Cambodians mercilessly lost their lives?

Hold on a minute here, I think this guy is right. There are *all sorts* of countries that need us to invade them! Why stingily constrain our magnamity to Iraq when we could also invade Cambodia, India, China, Cuba... the list goes on. Hearken to his wisdom, there is but little time to invade them all!

If the money spent on warfare is used to FEED people across the world, MANY MANY MANY more lives can be saved!

Newsflash, people under despotic regimes have a greater propensity to starve, regardless of how much famine relief we are inclined to provide. Iraq, North Korea, et al., are more interested in having large militaries than feeding their people. And in Africa, warlords hijack food shipments. So if we want to feed the starving peoples of Africa, we have to kill the warlords first. Of course, you libs cry foul whenever we try to use our military to help oppressed peoples, so fat chance of *that* ever happening. . .

"TWICE the number of people die EVERYDAY in Africa because of lack of food and amenities."

Yep, those amenities are vital to sustaining life! I know I'd just die without access to the weight room, swimming pool, tennis courts, and clubhouse.

If the money spent on warfare is used to FEED people across the world, MANY MANY MANY more lives can be saved!

Obviously a HS freshman who's teacher loaded him down with this poop and hasn't bothered to research anything else. It sounds good; its more humanistic; and, since people like this have the burning desire to say and do things that impress other people, liberalism idiocy is just the ticket.

There are MANY MANY MANY problems with using money spent on the war for feeding people "across the world." The first problem is that the money never gets to be spent to buy the food and feed people. The people are starving because they have a tyrannical government that's oppressing them, and those leaders have a vested interest in keeping them from being fed and whatever else. Second, after the food is gone, they will be right back to the same situation they were in before the food drive. Hungry and being slaughtered when convenient. Do we continue to feed them, in spite of the fact that they can't and won't help themselves? Third, once countries like Iran, North Korea, and the former Iraq (not to mention any looney group from the middle east hiding who knows where) know that American money will be spent on a We are the World project rather than to defend ourselves, it will be open season on all things American. Finally, our only business in this world should be to protect our own interests. Dependance begets more dependance. I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings or isn't the feel good answer your teacher expects, but it is the truth.

Have you looked at why AIDS so rampant in Sub-Saharan Africa?
The tribes put faith in their shaman, and avoid “evil” western medicine.
The touted cure is to have sexual intercourse with a young virgin.
For the men, a monogamous sexual relationship is nearly synonymous with homosexuality - homosexuality being the lesser of the two. A “real man” has sex with as many partners as possible.
Until these attitudes change, AIDS will continue to kill blacks in Africa. No amount of money will change that.

I assume that many of the folks effected by death every day are of the child persuasion. But, if the governments of these nations really wanted to attract international attention and aid, they'd bribe UN officials. Bono doesn't help just anyone, you know.

I certainly hope you've taken time out from feeding starving people in Anywhere, Anycountry to post this thread. Because IF you are at home, comfy, cozy, FULL, and safe, you are a hypocrit. Do NOT preach unless you are prepared to show us what you've done and are now doing. Otherwise, talk to the hand.

Holy sh!t, I actually read through this whole idiotic diatribe. I have to admit that when I read this part...

Before trying to get rid of Saddam Hussain(sic)(a person who has travelled around the world will realize that he is, believe it or not, one of the BETTER dictators in this world)

I literally convulsed with derisive laughter. I'm left speechless by the profound stupidity of this poster.

Just about the time I think I have seen the ultimate of idocy, someone invents a bigger idiot.

It's hard to believe that there are adults allowed out unsupervised who cannot see the uselessness of connecting the dead of 9/11 with African deaths daily due to a combination of natural forces and cultural incompetence; deliberate planned murder and ieptitude resulting in wholesale deaths.

Stupidity and the lack of a grasp on reality should be a capital offense.
