-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Voter fraud epidemic

Last April, the Carmel Pine Cone, a weekly newspaper in the affluent Northern California community whose most famous mayor was Clint Eastwood, published an expose on California voter fraud.

As part of the front-page report, headlined "Voter Fraud: Simple as 1, 2, 3," the paper registered a fictitious voter, "Sandra L. Klaus."

Under California law, the story explained, registering to vote requires only that individuals give a name and an address and declare that they are eligible to vote. They are then be entered on the rolls and sent a form -- at whatever mailing address they specify, even if it's a post office box in another state or another country -- asking if they would like to vote absentee. If they say yes, a ballot is then sent to that address.

The entire process can be conducted by mail without the voter ever being asked to provide evidence of their true identity. Elections officials make no attempt to verify the eligibility -- or even the existence -- of people submitting voter registration forms.

Nothing much happened as a result of the Pine Cone investigation. A similar series of reports by the Western Journalism Center beginning in 1994 went nowhere either -- even though fake names and non-existent addresses were published. There were no prosecutions, and a probe by Secretary of State Bill Jones' office ended quietly.

Carmel has had many close elections and allegations of voter fraud in Monterey County have been rampant. In early October, 16,000 fraudulent voter registration cards were discovered in Los Angeles County. According to the Los Angeles Times, the cards -- in many cases bearing the names of people who didn't exist -- were submitted as part of a state-wide voter registration drive conducted by the California Democratic Party.

As a result, "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Kroft became interested in the subject of California voter fraud. His report aired last Sunday on CBS.

As a result of the imminent national publicity, an embarrassed Jones last week asked Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo to prosecute Carmel Pine Cone publishers Kirstie Wilde and Paul Miller for voter fraud. Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed in that office. No charges are expected to be filed.

It's not just California, however. Voter fraud is epidemic throughout the country. From Miami to L.A., elections have been won and lost because of illegal voter registration and phony ballot counts. No wonder fewer and fewer people are bothering to vote. What's the point? Elections are being rigged. The fix is in. The sanctity of the American electoral system is not under attack, it is under siege.

Officials like Bill Jones in California are an enigma. If there is one power the secretary of state has in Sacramento, it is the authority to clean up election fraud. Since Bill Jones is a Republican and most of the voter fraud perpetrated in California is on behalf of Democrats, you would think tough action would be a no-brainer. Uh-uh. Jones is content to collect his paycheck, certify that elections in the state are valid and direct a bureaucratic army of paper-pushers.

Once again, here's evidence that we don't have a two-party system in America. We have a one-party system with factions that protect each other and preserve a status quo of official lawlessness.

Dare to expose the corruption and you run the danger of being victimized by that official lawlessness.

America had an election this week. Do we really know what happened? Do we really care? Most people are so caught up in the sham ideological battle between Republicans and Democrats that they are missing a crisis neither political faction is willing or able to solve.

Confidence is so shattered across this country that, on Monday night, when ABCNEWS.com errantly published detailed election results 24 hours early, many intelligent Americans believed all those votes had actually been predetermined in a vast government-media conspiracy.

The solution is not more laws. It's a matter of enforcing those already on the books.

16,000 fraudulent votes generated by Los Angeles County alone make a mockery of our democracy and political system. How many fraudulent votes were case in the last election nationwide would probably be well over 100,000 if LA County residents alone contributed to this level of deceitful voting. With only 17 states requiring ID to confirm your identity against a list of people registered to vote in a precinct, the other 33 states disrespect the hell out of our political system.

For every one of those 16,000 Californians that fraudulently voted, 16,000 honest hard working Americans who went out of their way to votethat day were disrespected to a level that I have not hear nearly enough outrage over. Did Al Gore, or George Bush, really win??? or is our system a trumped up crock of BS backed with absolutely identified high levels of voter fraud.

Many good Americans gave their lives for the right to vote and maintain our country according the the constitiution and principals of a representative republic. They have been betrayed by every person who was allowed to submit a false, fraudulent vote.

People who submite graudulent votes outght to be charged with crimes against the government and for outright fraud.

What the hell am I hearing today on TV that making people identify themselves to vote constitutes disctimination to immigrants ? Those are the ramblings of the thives who support the lying and deceit and would love to cheat America out of our proper elections.

There must be a Federal Level Law requiring standardization in voting - not at a State by State basis. How dare the importance of a vote in say Pennsylvania be made any more or less influential, valuable, or weighted than a vote cast in California ???

To belittle my vote by diluting the voting pool with false votes deprives myself of my full right to vote, and it is my constitutional right to case a full vote !!!

Anyone who has registered to vote would get a voter registration card mailed back to them. If you're homeless, but still a US Citizen - go physically get the card when you register to vote.

How dare non-US citizens vote. That's like me flying over to France during the elections to cast a ballot in a country in which I have no say !!! Even worse, the majority of the false Californian voters aren't even real people, totally fictitious characters.

US citizens who are comvicted Felons still do not have the right to vote, even if their families have been in this country since the Revolutionary war - get it ?

What are the Californian voter precinct volunteers smoking instead of giving a damn about the US political system, or is it OK / justified in their minds that they can create a majority where one does not exist ?

Emergency legislation is needed in Congress immediately to make it a MANDANTORY sentence of 5 years in federal prison for voter fraud.

Are we beeing setup for the Nov 3rd story of 'Bush didn't win, it was them phoney votes'? I still think Pat Buchanan will pull 3-8% of the vote in Florida despite not being on the ballot.

Governor Arnold I garuntee you at least has staff that will come across this article and post at FR.

I suggest you staff members please get The Gov. to impliment changes to clean up the voter rolls.

As long as cheating can happen, those that can best cheat will benefit and gain the most influence in California which is not good.

Time to act!

The thought of this is sickening!

And if you try to pass laws requiring proper identification to vote you are a racist!

a MANDANTORY sentence of 5 years in federal prison for voter fraud

Then, when they get paroled, they can move to Florida & scream that they were disenfranchised because they're not allowed to vote.

This story is six years old. Bill Jones is not the Sect'y of State anymore, the embattled Kevin Shelley is.

A follow-up to this would note that Jones ended up purging (as I recall) over 160,000 names from state voter rolls against vehement opposition from the Democrats in the Assembly and the Senate.

From the post: "Once again, here's evidence that we don't have a two-party system in America. We have a one-party system with factions that protect each other and preserve a status quo of official lawlessness. " From 1998 - to today - nothing changes. And how can you get a federal law making every state follow the same requirements when both sides look the other way "when told" to do so - ?

When one(people) doesn't pay attention to the important issues - they get what they deserve - (such as corrupt elections). A cause for America's downfall - ? What a way to go - and so easy - !

I believe the issue here is that this potential still exists in many states.

And my question to you folks is (drum roll, please...)
Is it Kerry voters who take advantage,

OR

GWB voters who take advantage???

"Uh-uh. Jones is content to collect his paycheck..."

Bill Jones is not the secretary of state.

I want you to tell me why it's racist to demand voters play by the same rules. It's obvious what side of the fence you're on. You're on the side that approves of voter fraud, depriving me of my constitutional right to full representation, why - are people of color less trustworthy, or more prone to commissionof fraud.

Actually your statement reeks of racism, too bad you can't see it !!!

Liar ! Did Not, but go ahead and throw the false accusation. You show your true colors on the subject. The news is current as of today, though the impetus comes from articles half a dozen years old.

We need a national biometric-based identification system, or votes and jobs will continue to be stolen by ineligible people. If there' no solid way to ascertain individuals' identities, there's no way to secure the voting system, and no way to keep illegal aliens at bay.

My money's on La Raza and Mecha taking the most advantage so they can add more of the PAN and PRI party regulars to the voter rolls....especially throughout the Southwest. Every member of Congress that voted for Motor Voter should be forced to resign......in disgrace.

Why in the world should honest Americans have their identities and privacy any more at risk because of the fedgov's incompetent and treasonous actions? It should be obvious that this is an classic Hegelian tactic (cause the problem/publicize the problem/then come back with another "fedgov" solution to the problem it caused in the first place.
