I had more posters of Duran Duran on the wall..

Ditto. Anyone who didn't have Duran Duran posters on their wall during that time period didn't have good taste. ; )

"When Prince released "1999" it seemed sooooo far away. I remember thinking I'd be OLD in 1999 - I'd be 28! Well, 1999 was 5 years ago! So, everyone, PARTY LIKE IT'S 2016!"

Another one......

Another quote from the site:

"Hearing songs like "Rapture" by Blondie and "Magic" by The Cars being called "classics" or "oldies" because they are now 15 to 20 years old, and I remember hearing them when they were new, or seeing some of them as "Sneak Preview Video" on MTV. Of course, that was when MTV showed videos... Also, having my friends daughter, who is only 14, saying "Wow, you bought that record and it only had one song on it ???", refering to my 45 RPM records form the 1980's. Heck, I'm only 30, does that make me ancient ??"

I agree wholeheartedly! I have enjoyed my forties more than any other decade. My body still functions well, it looks semi-ok, and I am a thousand times wiser and calmer. The kids are raised right and only need occasional nagging...errr, I mean guidance......life is sweet!

Speaking of 80s songs, when did they start appearing on "Classic" rock stations anyway? I seem to recall that in the Detroit area it was around '99/2000 that I first started hearing them. I may be off.

"The good old days when Micheal Jackson was a black male."

Don't laugh, my daughter (born 1986) saw an old video of Michael Jackson (my exact age!) when she was about 8 and exclaimed "Michael Jackson used to be black?!?!?!?"

She was extremely confused.

Why is this thread so slow to refresh all of a sudden? Are the pictures creating problems? I have broadband and am still having to wait quite awhile.

Well, turning 30 and 40 didn't bother me...too busy. But 50 did. I guess it's because somebody pointed out that I was closer to the end then the beginning. But I got over it.
I have a real sense of freedom now. You're past that worrying about what others think stage. You're more willing to try things. Of course, for some reason every one I know looks old. Ha!

It seems to work pretty well using Mozilla. Some times you have to refresh, but it stays in the margins without having to scroll.

And I thought I was old when a friend of mine told me of following a couple of teens out of a Wings concert in '81 and one says to the other that she had heard that Paul McCartney was in another band! I guess you could call the Beatles another band....NOT!

I still have the LP single. From the first press run.

What's an "LP single"?

Born in 1964 too, always thought that was the last year of the "Boomers".
Sometimes feel old, but refuse to get old.

Ahh, only in America can a poor black boy grow up to be a rich white woman!
