Well, it didn't last long. With the innaguration less than a month behind us, Washington is back to its pork barrel ways. But what might surprise you is who is attacking the President. Ray LaHood, (R-Ill) is none to happy that Bush has decided to scale back farm subsidies and close loopholes that would allow large scale farms to make claims above which are allowed.
I am not a farmer, nor have I ever been one, so I don't know the difficulties of making a buck growing crops. But what I do know is that the American people are subsidizing farmers, and I am wondering why. The days of the small family farm are essentially gone. With advances in mechanization, and consolidation, farms are bigger and more efficient than ever. What amazes me is that Ray is mad, not because we are basically giving out welfare checks, but that he thinks midwestern farmers deserve the money at all.

Of course the midwestern Congressman is unhappy. This directly affects his constitutes and thus his chances for re-election.
I personally, and strongly, agree with you BigDog, but I can't blame a Congressman for sticking up for the people who elected him.
But even then liberals and democrats spent very little time honestly assessing why they lost. The few that did get it got shouted down. By early December the left was once again out in full hate mode. So Bush in Bushs 2 terms, he has never had a honeymoon.
He will be misunderestimated again.
