Jordan's gone, but his meme lives on

It was inevitable from the moment the World Economic Forum decided to change its mind about releasing the videotape of Eason Jordan's remarks at Davos. Consider these "statistics" from an op-ed today in the left-wing Seattle P-I (ht Greg Ransom via Lorie Byrd):
Mainstream media reportage in the United States about the occupation in Iraq is being censured, distorted, threatened by the military and controlled by corporations that own the outlets.
Recently at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Eason Jordan, a CNN executive, told a panel that the U.S. military deliberately targeted journalists in Iraq. He said he "knew of about 12 journalists who had not only been killed by American troops, but had been targeted as a matter of policy," said Rep. Barney Frank, a Democrat from Massachusetts who was on the panel with Jordan.
When we hear this statement with the knowledge that 63 journalists have been killed in Iraq, in addition to the fact that in a 14-month-period, more journalists were killed in Iraq than during the entire Vietnam War, one begins to get the feeling that the military clampdown on the media is more than a myth or a conspiracy theory.
Jordan's history. But, tragically, the meme he left behind at Davos is still shaping "history."
Just one more reason we need to see the tape.

Try and figure out how many journalists were covering the Vietnam War, and how many have been covering the Iraq War. And then compare the ratios instead of the raw numbers.
Nah, that could refute a perfectly good conspiracy theory.

The damage has been done by his remarks! When will the MSM realize that spewing ridiculous and un-supported accusations puts the brave soldiers lives in danger? Partisan politics aside, journalists and news organizations need to think of the consequences before they open their mouths.
Proof positive, Al Jazeera has taken Eason Jordan's remarks as factual, and is now spreading propaganda defaming the United States military. No big shock there but how many lives will be put in jeopardy by these lies?
Al Jazeera's Eason Jordan Inspired Cartoon This cartoon is featured on Al Jazeera's website. It is titled The Price of Iraq Policy.
IMO Eason Jordan should be held accountable and face criminal charges for his blantant disregard of the facts and further putting the soldiers lives in danger!!

Those cartoons burn me up.Why do you think we were so offended by his "off the record" remarks...He was speaking to some who believe it, applaud it and use it to harm our own military.
Rumors, attitudes, biases all working together in a perfect setting, Europe..But for a liberal Congressman who asked him if he could provide evidence and a blogger unrelated to the government or the media we would have never heard of it most likely..
It isn't the first time Jordan had made accusations..It's the first time he had to pay a price.

RELEASE THE TAPE!
I loudly second that notion! The left-wing media propaganda machine must be held accountable for their actions.

Can you imagine the uproar if a blogger wrote that CNN's top people were murdering hookers -- intentionally?
It would be the news of the day for weeks. They would be climbing all over each other condemning blogs with trademark righteous indignation. "Irresponsible" would be a kind phrase if it were us... But when it's them? Quiet. We can hear a pin drop.
The MSM covers for their own. If CNN wants to say our troops murder journalist, well, they let it pass. No need to share that information with readers. Nope, the public's right to know is trumped. For the good of covering liberal media ass.
Two standards. One for us, one for our "betters". To hell with you CNN.

Why on earth are you wasting time on this non-story? Wouldn't the nation be better served with another Gannon/Guckert exposé?
