On March 23, Paul Martin will be in Texas to meet with President George W. Bush and President Vincente Fox of Mexico. It appears that Martin will at least get to visit Bush’s Crawford Texas ranch; something that was always denied to his predecessor.
When Martin recently went to China he was criticized by some Canadians for not criticizing that country’s human rights practices. While trying to deflect the criticism away from him and onto Conservative Party MP Jason Kenney, Martin countered that he indeed did discuss human rights with Chinese leaders. There is no doubt that Martin did what previous Canadian leaders have done; casually mentioned China’s less than stellar human rights situation to Chinese officials, get it out of the way, and get down to the business of selling Canada’s resources to one of the few remaining Communist countries.
Everyone in Canada knows the difference between Canadians and those that inhabit the land south of the border. It is a well known fact that we are morally superior, more enlightened and more caring and compassionate than those yahoos and rednecks that call such places as Texas, Arkansas, or the Bronx home. It is also very well known that the United States has extremely poor human rights records when it comes to gays and lesbians. Although there is a rumour that it is now illegal to shoot such persons for sport, Americans are still not allowed to marry persons of the same gender. Locking up and torturing Chinese members of Fulan Gong pales in comparison with those who are denied license to marry. . . . .

Being lectured by Martin is sort of like a Chihuahua barking at my 100 pound lab. Useless, but annoying, and if it persists someone is going to loose part of his butt.
Forcing one's country to be bilingual with French as the second language is is my idea of inhumane treatment.

I welcome a Canadian lecture on human rights. Bush has liberated millions from beatings, rape rooms, disfigurement and summary executions. Canada has... hmmm... Canada... well, they have a lot of cars with "Free Tibet" bumperstickers. I think Bush will be the one doing the lecturing.
Bilingualism in Canada ... talk about a crime against humanity.
oh honey blame the British on that score, when they defeated the French a few centuries ago on the Plains of Abraham, because of politics in Europe, they decided to be nice to the French and constitutionally enshrined the right to their language and religion, Roman Catholicism, rather than just decimate their enemy and assimilate the rest as was the fashion in those days........and we've been living with the consequences ever since.......

If Mr. Dithers starts babbling about human rights, all President Bush has to do is to call him and his fellow Canadians a nation of f'in hypocrites, because they have been happily vacationing in Communist Cuba, where Fidel Castro has one of the worst human rights records in the world, and helping to support that dictatorship for decades. Cuba's state run travel agencies advertise throughout Canada regarding their economical vacation packages, and Canadians have responded, feeling no tug of the conscience as they stay in swank resorts which are off limits to the average Cuban, unless the Cubans are state employees of said resort.
But hey, Canadians leave little bottles of shampoo in their rooms along with other trinkets so they can tell everyone that they 'helped' some of the common people down there.
And if a splash in the face of Canadian/Cuban reality doesn't wake up Mr. Dithers, President Bush can enlighten the illustrious PM on the subject of officially sanctioned government repression of Christians in Canada, the most notable example (in my recollection) being in the wake of the crash of Swissair 111 in Nova Scotia in 1998. Chretien, the PM at the time, has his office expressly instruct ministers that they were forbidden to mention 'Jesus Christ' in their prayers and sermons for the families of the victims at the oceanside memorial services, although it was ok to mention 'Allah', 'Buddha' 'Mohammed', 'Krishna' or any other symbol of a deity. In Chretien's Canada (and one must presume, Martin's as well) Jesus Christ is not welcome there.
Considering that the majority of Canadians still consider themselves Christian, that constitutes an official position of religious repression, especially in light of the most recent attempt to ram homosexual marriage down the throat of the public, Biblical prohibitions to the contrary.
Canada has no business talking about human rights to ANYone.

The author was clearly making fun of the idea that gay marriage should even be considered a “human right” rather than a dopey political issue thrown around by the same liberals who run away from criticizing tyranny.
If Martin even begins to get moralistic, Bush needs to pull out an airline ticket to Montreal and tell him he has 8 hours to get out of the country. And I am not kidding.
Not unless he wants GW to take his purse away from him and whack him upside the head with it.
Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin has nothing to brag about.
All you have to do is look at Canada's treatment of its own aboriginal peoples for human rights abuses.
