Terri's Ordeal Compared to Christ's Crucifixion
CNSNews ^ | 3/22/05 | Susan Jines

Posted on 03/22/2005 9:49:25 AM PST by Tumbleweed_Connection

Terri Schiavo's mother Mary Schindler is like another Mary -- forced to watch her child die, a spiritual adviser to the Schindler family said on Tuesday.

Brother Paul O'Donnell spoke on Tuesday after a federal judge refused an emergency request to reinsert Terri's feeding and hydration tube.

"During this week, as we look to Good Friday, all Mary the mother of Christ could do was stand at her child's side. He was condemned by unjust courts, the same way Terri Schaivo is being condemned to die by court order.

"We pray that this modern-day crucifixion will not happen and we have faith that Terri will be liberated, and we are not giving up hope," O'Donnell added.

Terri's parents are described as devout Roman Catholics.

In comments outside the Pinellas Park, Fla., hospice, O'Donnell said what's happening inside is heart-breaking:

"Her own mother cannot offer her daughter an ice chip in her mouth to make her comfortable," he said. "Her own mother, in the United States of America, cannot go in and comfort her and prop pillows under her, or rub lotion to her body. Her own mother cannot be at her side without being watched by armed police officers -- in the United States of America."

Alot of the wording in this article is a bit too much. Way over the top as a matter of fact.

Well, Pilate did try to convince the Pharisees to let Jesus live, but when the Pharisees persisted, Pilate gave in and washed his hands of it. It appears that this case is turning out similarly.

Uh huh. And what would you have President Bush do?

LOL!

This internet-enhanced mass hysteria and the cast of sideline, non-family players is for the history books.

BTW, for the "husband is Satan" and "husband denied care" folks, they should read this:

"Unconscionable."

Yep. But then, so was pushing the FedGov into this mess, calling for the National Guard to be deployed, demanding that MS, Greer, and almost every Florida judge and cop be arrested fo rno reason, slandering someone absent any reliable proofs, attacking other FReepers as "Death Trolls, Death Merchants, Murderers, Devils, etc.", embracing Bo Gritz and his flying Nazi monkey brigade, lying, misquoting, repeating falsehoods as truth, etc, etc, etc...

All of which have been done, repeatedly.

People have been loudly claiming that "It's Worth It To Save TERRI!". I guess that also means it was worth selling their souls, because it seems that they've truly "made the Deal".

I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with the South Portico and a bowl of water.

These folks have exposed their abject lack of an ethical core, a common failing in America today.

I know. All I can do is hope that JimRob sees this crap going on and decides that enough is enough.

Anyone with an ounce of reason can see that the Republican party is getting KILLED over this in the polls. We have achieved so much in the past decade, and now it's getting turned to dog meat because of this. I've spoken to almost a dozen Sailors in the past few days, all of whom WERE solid Pubbies, and all of whom are now switching to Independant or Libertarian. This was the last straw to them. They have correctly seen this as a comedy of errors that COULD have, SHOULD have, been avoided.

The political dimension is only the start, though. After all the acrimony and half-mad vitriol, here and elsewhere, the whole of the Right is facing a crack-up, bigtime. Anyone denying that is delusional.

Everyone always carps about making the GOP "stick to its principles". Well, the vast perception is now that it has none that are not subject to change at the whims of its most extreme members...exactly like the Dims.

Frankly, I don't see how the damage can be repaired, either here OR in the conservative movement.

I agree with both of you.

If you only knew the number of people in town who have called me and are VERY upset that the Republicans have pushed this matter, you'd fear for our party. That doesn't count my e-mails and the conversation at the gym today in our staunchly conservative town. No one was exercising by the time the conversation was 5 minutes old. They were ALL complaining.

It's tearing FR apart too.

I've been called a Nazi and worse and so have other freepers. It's gotten ridiculous.

Yep, the view is particularly vivid when your standing out here in the middle of the road.

Peach, it's gotten downright dangerous. I just passed over a couple of threads and saw direct death threats against MS, which were NOT deleted.

Pooh, we REALLY need to adjust those odds. I also saw people calling for Greer's head.
