THEY BLAME PRESIDENT BUSH FOR KATRINA --- HOW ABOUT BLAMING PBS?
8-31-05 | Doug from Upland

FROM THIS ARTICLE, Katrina's damage to New Orleans was, not surprisingly, blamed on President Bush and his war in Iraq. It didn't take them long, did it?

From Will Bunch and the Philadelphia Daily News article:

Over the next 10 years, the Army Corps of Engineers, tasked with carrying out SELA, spent $430 million on shoring up levees and building pumping stations, with $50 million in local aid. But at least $250 million in crucial projects remained, even as hurricane activity in the Atlantic Basin increased dramatically and the levees surrounding New Orleans continued to subside.

Yet after 2003, the flow of federal dollars toward SELA dropped to a trickle. The Corps never tried to hide the fact that the spending pressures of the war in Iraq, as well as homeland security -- coming at the same time as federal tax cuts -- was the reason for the strain. At least nine articles in the Times-Picayune from 2004 and 2005 specifically cite the cost of Iraq as a reason for the lack of hurricane- and flood-control dollars.

Well, Mr. Bunch, why not take a look at money that was totally wasted and could have been used for levees and pumping stations? Let's look at the black hole into which money has been sucked -- PBS.

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media has noted that $8 billion taxpayer dollars has been spent since 1969 on PBS. Why should they get any money when that money could have gone to help protect New Orleans?

Good try, Will Bunch, but it isn't going to fly. Iraq is the right place to be fighting the terrorists who want to cut off not only my head, but yours as well. If we had done nothing about Hussein and your city lost a hundred thousand people in a chemical, biological, or radiological attack, whom do you think you would be blaming? That's right. You would be blaming George Bush for not stopping Hussein and allowing him to sell the WMDs to terrorist groups.

Given the choice of pumping $8 billion of our money into PBS or New Orleans, I would take the Big Easy every time.

Bush is to blame. He secretly used money that was cut to NOLA Army Engineers to pay scientists to whip up the hurricane so he and cheney could profit from increased oil prices. And Bush is to blame for the looting as NOLA residents learned from his stealing the 2000 election from Al Gore! Post that on all the demoncratic web blogs so we can hear it on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC tonight as that's where the networks are getting their talking points.

Excellent post. That and other idiot programs are the things that need to be stopped and the money should be used on things like the New Orleans levees. There are a lot of things like this that need to be covered and others that need to be dumped.

You can make PBS conservative if you want and it is still a waste of money. It all needs to be ended. No more money for things that don't need to exist.

So, here comes "The Big Lie"...it's Chimpy McBushitler's fault, he hates New Orleans!!

As was clearly spelled out last night, the money for inland waterways works projects comes from a totally different bucket, having completely different committees with oversight, than national defense dollars.

What really p!sses me off is not the blatant bias and partisanship (sadly I just naturally expect as much these days), it's how friggin' LAZY these reporters are about doing their homework, and how much money they're paid to be so sloppy.

Absolutely sickening.

Original message:
Don't respond w/o your TINFOIL on - "Katrina" = "another 911 for bush" ?

I think this disaster is tooo coincidental.

Everything going on was "negative for bush and for POWER" :

* Iraq is a nightmare -- the draft constitution rejected by Sunni's with potential "civil war" as a result.

* The US economy in the shitter (BS job numbers and inflation rising)

* The Housing bubble aboutr to burst with consumers extended on home equity loans -- last few months retail shopping slowing

* Oil continued to increase and people having to spend less on consumables.

* The US "economic - housing - oil induced - poor planning by govt BUBBLE" was coming home to roost.

* NOT to mention the Plame investigation and Rove "fingerprints"

What do we get :

-------------------

A "perfectly targeted devistating hurricane" at a city "below sea level which controls 25% of US energy production"

For those of you that don't know -- our Military has been working with "controlling the weather" for sometime. How HAARP works and it creates "depression's and steering" don't ask me. I know hurricanes require warm Gulf waters (August/Sept you have that).

And now:

---------

7x24 news on the hurricane -- forgetting all of the above.

I don't trust TPTB and I think more is coming that all "our woes" will now be blamed on Katrina"

IF there were anyway to find out increased "weather making activity" that steered this towards New Orleans and others I would love to know.

TPTB would do "anything" do advance thier agenda -- and the CNN "situation room" was created "just in time" -- what a "co-inkydink"

I'm waiting for somebody to ask Ted Kennedy and John Kerry why we needed to pay $15 billion for the Big Dig in Boston when we could have spent it on improvements of the levees in New Orleans. Reducing commutes by 5 minutes in Boston or saving thousands of lives and millions of dollars of property - looks like we just found out which is more important to some liberal politicians.

The blood of hundreds of dead poor people in New Orleans is on their hands.

I blame Ted Kennedy's Big Dig in Boston.

Which would massively flood if Katrina had been an Atlantic hurricane that took the New England Express instead of a Gulf hurricane. The only difference is, there would no longer be any elevated evacuation routes (oops).
