Why are Louisiana politicians having public emotional melt-downs? Why are they crying, moaning, whining, blaming others? For what....making them cry? Well that too, but mostly, I think they are crying because the entire country is about to find out how corrupt and incompetent Louisiana politicians are to this day, and have always been.
Crime and corruption in Louisiana politics has always been expected, a way of life, even a source of pride for the folks down there. Corruption is a part of the culture, romanticized and so loved in movies and books.
But all that has ended now, and I think that's why the politicians cry. Louisiana Governor Blanco was first, breaking down on camera even before the hurricane's fury was over. Then came Mayor Nagin in a radio interview. His teary break-down came only after he had used his normal obscenities to express his indignation that everyone else was to blame. For the hurricane, and every tragedy that followed.
Then for those who were watching, the New Orleans Police Chief broke down during a street interview. He was tired, he was over-worked, stressed out, he just needed a place to lay down, he needed help, he said, before he walked off camera, you guessed it, in tears.
The previously unknown Aaron Broussard, President of Jefferson Parrish lashed out at Bush and FEMA, from a written script. And as far as I'm concerned Broussard gets the Oscar! His total emotional break-down came only after he had completed his lines. Good job, Aaron! And you didn't even have to resort to obscenities, or with a grand drama queen flourish, storm off the set.
Mary Landrieu's tears weren't very impressive. She came late to the crying game, and in a private jet. It just didn't tug at the heart strings. But you know what? Landrieu probably has more to cry about than any of the others. Her entire family is a huge part of Louisiana greed and corruption. Her brother is Louisiana Lt Govenor. We'll just have to wait and see if he goes down with the Blanco ship, or if he, like all the others, goes on television, sheds a few tears, and blames everything on the governor.
So, why are these Louisiana politicians crying? Are they following the Bill Clinton lead? I don't think so. For the most part, Bill Clinton didn't rev up the tears and bite the bottom lip to cover his own corruption or to evade presidential responsibility. Clinton cried to show the country he really did "feel our pain". He didn't really cry, he just looked like he might, but that was enough.
These Louisiana cry babies let loose with the sobs and wails and almost, gnashing of teeth. You know who they remind me of? It's another man from Louisiana? Can you guess?
Why Jimmy Swaggart of course! Remember??? Now this Louisiana man cried buckets of tears! Beaucoup buckets! And it worked for him too. Swaggart is still a preacher man in Baton Rouge, he survived his personal scandals, and I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't have, if not for all those public tears.
Littel wonder then, why these Louisiana politicians are following Swaggart's example. But I don't want to be mean. Maybe some of those tears are genuine. Mayor Nagin might be in personal agony because he didn't call for the mandatory evacuation of New Orleans early enough to do some good, and save some lives. Maybe the Governor's tears flow because she realizes she was simply not qualified to be governor. People suffered and died because of decisions these two refused to make.
That's enough to make anybody cry.
Easy. Most have French ancestry
Because they know the deaths of thousands of people is on their hands and they want to pass the blame to Bush!
You would cry too if you had that much blood on your hands.
After hearing the pathetic and useless elected "leadership" of Louisianna......I'd be embarrassed to say I was from that state.
this tactic is readily observable in children who have been discovered in a some failure of character.
too funny!
Well, let's see. They totally botched the evacuation of New Orleans' low-income population thereby causing untold deaths and they then allowed the city to descend into anarchy.
This is just another version of the "Columbian drug dealers slit my wife's throat" defense.
They know the fingers SHOULD be pointing at themselves, so they figure if they become blubbering idiots and point fingers first, then they will be off the hook.
Very funny! I've been wondering about this, too. What's with the teary eyes - of course, one BJC was pretty good at that, too. Maybe it's something Dems learn at their Mama's knee.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you......
Because, as my favorite conservative female author opines (and I paraphrase)..."Because they are liberals. That's what they do. They cry."
Because they know their political careers are over or at least the ones that run Louisiana is over. The republicans might not be able to take over that state, but the ones you see on camera now crying are toast. One more thing, all this Bush bashing isn't being done to help the politicians down in Louisiana. It is being done to try and hurt Bush's legacy and republicans across the US. It is the same stuff the MSM has been doing since Bush first got into office.
Because they're liberals, i.e., overgrown children.
Has anyone been watching MSNBC? the anchor babe just talked to a computer geek holed up in New Orleans, keeping a blog from within the city. AMAZING!!!

Ya, you forgot the fact that their father is Moon Landrieu.
Remember he forgot to figure in installation for the new pumps he requested and they never got installed. They found them in his relatives business... it was a scandal.
Outstanding essay.
But try as I can with google, I can find nothing but high praise for Moon Landrieu.
That's all liberals have is their feelings. And, if their feelings aren't real, they will invent some just for you.
If they truly have souls, they are beginning to realize just how much their incompetence and corruption has cost the nation....not only in terms of lives lost. The enormity of what just happened to this country is so overwhelming, I'm at a loss for words. I'd be in tears, too.
Not a big Jimmy Swaggart fan, but at least he didn't blame the federal government for not protecting him from prostitutes.
This one.
Oh how did I miss seeing this?
LOVE the belly button!
(I've been so serious of late. thanks! I needed that!
Good Find! I just have to say that Oprah and the NAACP flying over to do an evaluation will not do a damn thing to help. And like many liberals, he's criticizing the Army Corp of Engineers, when he probably never heard of them before or knew anything about them (my grandpa is retired from them).
click here for photograph representing Louisiana leadership.
One of my all time favorites!!
The photo is not mine, but the header at the top is. Or, I can put a better one if someone gives me the idea. LOL.
Because they know when the sh*t hits the fan they are going to get some of the blame .
The city is run by incompetent Liberals who have screwed up in the past but never like this !
The rats will scurry to get this off of their plates and blame anyone but themselves .
The LSM will give them all of the cover they need and the smoke screen will billow for a few weeks. It is important to document and archive all early reports as CNN has already edited
some of their early reports !
Watch it there fella. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and spent 4 hellish years in school in New Orleans. My ancestry is solid EuroMutt!!
No offense intended, my friend....I was trying for an obvious, cheap, laugh...regards..
None taken, I knew where you were coming from. Some of my best friend are real cajuns and I have been to France. No similarity I assure you. OTOH I don't claim any French ancestry, mostly English and Irish.
