The powerball lottery next Wednesday will be for $340 million. Thats more than 1/4 of a billion (with a B). The cash option is 164.4 million, which means that the winner, AFTER TAXES, clears approximately $100 million.

Now my question is: what would you do with $100 million?

I would buy the finest house in Bayonne, NJ. I would definately quit my job. I would know that NRTL and the Salvation Army would be very happy. I would get me a super souped up little Dodge Neon. That is all!

The FreeRepublic would be funded for at least one year if not more. That would only be a start.

lol, Free Republic would get several new servers.

Surely we can also give to other good causes

I would do the following;

pay my bills,
payoff my house
give a big chuck to my church and parish school.
put and addition on my house with a new kitchen for my wife.
Go on long vacation!

Put all the money in the following
State and Federal Bonds
Live off the interest like Mrs. Kerry, lol

You have to start somewhere. Then you go from there.

If I won this money I would help family and friends. Then I would set up a think tank to study the Islamic threat and the Chinese threat. I would set up a think tank to study greater use of clean coal technology for energy. Another think tank to study cold fusion.

I would buy a lot of rural land and set up a free school of organic agriculture.

$100,000,000 ain’t what it used to be but …
1. By an RV.
2. Put my Camaro in a “Overhauling” shop with my dream sheet.
3. Give my favorite waitress a really big tip.
4. Hit the road for an extended vacation and look for a nice place to live out in the middle of nowhere.
5. Mail a sizable check to my daughter just to see how many shoes she would buy.

Open a state of the art group home for the severely physically disabled with well paid professionals and assistants and college funds for all those living in the home.

A home that REALLY provides 24 hr care. Non Profit.

Also a group home just for respite so Moms and Dads who have spent their lives caring for a severly disabled child/adult can take a break on a reg. basis.

Buy a bus with state of the art with barrier free lifts and all the medical support so I could take King Vanity around the United States independtly, and hire a professional driver.

And of coarse the Labs would come too.

My idea of having fun with the money:

1) donate ultrasound machines to every right to life organization.
2)huge amount to Fischer Houses....build lots of them
3) ipods and hi-tech toys in abundance to every recovering Veteran
4) youth, adult & senior scholarships $$ to deserving people
5) flowers & goodie baskets to folks going through rough times

I'd do it all anonomously....like the old TV show "The Millionaire"

Here is an amazing fact: $340 million is the exact same as $164.4 million (the cash option). How? When the top prize is won, the Powerball operations people go to 25 bond dealers in NYC and get bids on bonds to cover the 25 years of the payouts. In this case, they are estimating it will cost them $164.4 million to cover the $340 million over the 25 year period.

Hiring a lawyer isn't going to do you any good, since you can get the $340 million anyway.

Well, first of all I'd pay off all my bills then with the 100 bucks I had left, we'd go to IHOP for breakfast.(kidding)......I'd pay my bills, pay off my childrens' mortgages, buy a new truck, donate to the Salvation Army and Smaritans Purse.......take out all our retirement savings and give that to our church.........(don't think the church would want lottery money) then sit back and relax and watch the world go by wondering how in the cat hair we ever got to a point to where a government could take so much out for itself. :(

1- I look forward to a freepmail Thursday morning.(LOL)
2- My needs are simple, and goals realistic. A paid week in Las Vegas will do. On second thought, sponsor an entry for me in the World Series of Poker next year and I'd be happy.

Regardless, I wish the best of luck to you.

Now my question is: what would you do with $100 million?

Honestly?

I'd be dead in a month. They'd find me in the penthouse suite of a five star hotel, my head buried "Scarface"-style in a mountain of cocaine, and a half dozen naked high priced call-girls going through my wallet trying to find the PIN numbers for my credit cards. I'd have a smile on my face though!

There is a reason I don't play the lottery.

I would by my own mountain, like Walton mountain. Have a working horse ranch for mentally and physically handicapped, and autistics to work and use.

Pay for college and not have to get those darned loans.

Then take a trip to Ireland, Scotland and London and anywhere else that suits my fancy.

Show me the money....

I enjoy imagining this.

I too would pay off all bills first.

I continue to live modestly but with indulgences you can't see from the outside like a big aquarium in each room and a huge TV in each room.

I would have a will that bestows chunks of money to certain people who have been good to me and my church.

I would adopt one or two used greyhounds.

One dream I have is to adopt a disabled child, one who is deemed unadoptable, and really have the means to provide all care and love him or her endlessly. I never have done this because I know I could not afford things and plus probably have to hire help.

I think it is OK to play the big lottery games. I buy only one ticket. Somebody has to win and it is just numbers. Not like you have to be smart and answer questions or anything.

I would pack lunches in the AM, go to soccer practice, walk the dogs, etc. Some things I wouldn't want to mess up. Ahh, but my job..
