WASHINGTON Ambassador Joseph Wilson's attorney is demanding Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely retract a statement he made to WND that the man at the center of the CIA leak case "outed" his own wife as a CIA employee in conversations more than a year before her identity was revealed in a syndicated column.

I've seen Vallely interviewed on a variety of military subjects and he is so low key and unassumming. I would consider him more reliable in his recollections than that media slut Wilson.

Vallely states that "Wilson can make statements, yet he is never called to testify". BINGO. Exactly what many of us have said for a couple years. Why is Wilson so exempt from any sworn testimony? I hope to God that Libby's LOYYAS grill him to death in front of the nation. I want him frogmarched, nothing less.

he also lost a son in the military, in special forces I believe - stateside in a training accident if I recall correctly.
Fitzgerald isn't interested in the "outing" - his GJ was just a big perjury trap for Libby and Rove. Between this story, and the andrea mitchell transcript - she was "out" way before this reached the white house. this is one reason why Fitz didn't indict on the "outing" charge (aside from the fact it did not occur) - the perjury and obstruction charges are nice and neat, compartmentalized, the trial doesn't have to go into all this stuff, it will just focus on what was said and when to the GJ.
To: Whitewasher
I think his son died in a training accident here, in the US, but I am not positive.

why is WIlson exempt from testimony? well, who is investigating anything regarding Wilson? Fitzgerald isn't.
To: tabtalker
"Fitzgerald has been investigating whether Plame's identity was leaked by the White House as retaliation against Wilson for his assertion that the Bush administration made false claims "
Is this the actual Justice Department assignment to Fitz, or did he narrow his "investigation" (2+ years and counting for a few weeks of work) on his own?

Paul Vallely is a good man and has served his country honorably for many years as a military officer and done so with distinction.
Joe Wilson would have been well advised to not ever open his mouth for whatever purposes he intended,, he is now reaping a whirlwind of his own creation, imo.

I watched Wilson on Larry King tonight, for about 4 minutes.
He made the remark that he recently talked to a journalist friend who just came back from Iraq who said that the U.S. military is is disarray and is just phoning it in anymore. What a vile man.

Right...Fitz went in ONLY to look at the Bush administration and who he could "take down". He didn't go in to figure out who leaked Plame's identity.

On another, unrelated note -
I was noticing how similar Joe Wilson's locks are to those of pretty boy John Edwards. I wonder if they have the same stylist..

Yep. This was a dumb move. Even if Wilson thought Vallely was lying, he should have acted as if he were above it all.
Now, of course, everybody who's heard a half-tipsy Joe Wilson go off about his CIA wife will come out of the woodwork.

If Joe Wilson outed his wife, didn't he violate the law that he accuses the GOP of violating? I say charge him, make him spend money and time in court. He may be found innocent on technical grounds (wife not covert) but her position is still classified. Divulging classified info is a violation that can end his career and he can be fined.
