I was advised yesterday that I've been hired for a 3-6 month contract in Baton Rouge and have been on the phone with extended stay hotels in the area. I've found there is no room at the inn due to Katrina evacuees.
I'm in search of a garage/basement apt within 20 miles of downtown Baton Rouge that's reasonably priced. If it's furnished that's all the better..I will need to move in late Saturday, (Dec 17)..
I planned on leaving here tomorrow morning (Friday), but it now makes no sense. I've revised my departure to Saturday, Dec 17.
Please freepmail me if you can help point me in the right direction.

Have you tried looking in Denham Springs, too?
I've tried all over..there may be some out that way, but I can't find them online..only two extended stays show up on a search in that area and they're both full..
I saw these in this morning's Baton Rouge Advocate. Have you tried their web site?
The first one is pricey, but they're brand new, right next to I-12 and offer short-term leases. Not sure about the second. If you want to call a real estate agent, I suggest C.J. Brown and Associates.

Try looking in the classified ads of the Advocate, the local daily paper. Above is a link to a quick search that I did...not much but maybe some leads for you. If this doesn't work, try calling a real estate office and ask them if they know of any availabilities. Many RE agents own rental property.
Good luck. Most traditional hotel/motel space is booked for about a 50 mile radius.
yes, I've found that out..I've had an app in with these people for the past 2 months..I wish they'd have given me more time than 3 days..
Yeah, that's not right to expect you to find a place in just a few days. This whole area has been a clusterf*** ever since Katrina, with housing, traffic and crime.
I looked into two more apartment complexes, but they're full.
Would you consider an apartment near LSU?
