Some of us are looking for a specific ping list that discusses military history topics primarily. The focus of such a ping list would be on historical military commanders, wars, battles, strategies, tactics, and the like (as opposed to current military topics). At present, we have not been able to find such a list though there is quite a bit of intereest among FReepers.
If you would like to join the new "Military History" ping list, please reply to FReeper indcons.
TOPICS: History; Military/Veterans; Reference
KEYWORDS: armies; godsgravesglyphs; greatgenerals; milhist; militaryhistory; war; warandpeace

FYI: this ping list is NOT a duplicate of the GGG list, the history list, or the miltech list. This list focuses on military history only.
If somebody is aware of a functioning military history ping list, please let me know. I searched on the "List of ping lists" and a couple of other FR sources but wasn't able to find anything similar.

Just FYI in cse you are interested.
You may recall that we were discussing such a list on the Rev. War thread a couple of days ago. I haven't found an appropriate list and have decided to form one with fellow FReepers.

You are going to add me, right? ;') This could work out pretty well. If you're looking for early topics, check out our digest topic, under the heading "Thoroughly Modern Miscellany". It's got lots of stuff from the Civil War, Napoleonic Wars, that kind of thing.
Here's the alpha list / digest topic:

p.s. I'll post something about your new list in those bump list topics.

Of course, this ping list will not be complete without the GGG pingmeister in it :)
Thanks also for offering to post about this new list in your bump topics list. Appreciate the assistance.

Dear fellow GGGers -- here's something that may be of interest, a ping list that just started in the past hour or so, and it seems like a good idea to give it a plug (so to speak, it's a military history ping list). Please don't drop out of the GGG just because I've been so foolish. Thanks.
To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list. Thanks. Please FREEPMAIL me if you want on or off the
"Gods, Graves, Glyphs" PING list or GGG weekly digest
-- Archaeology/Anthropology/Ancient Cultures/Artifacts/Antiquities, etc.

There are several threads that have the ping lists listed. Do a title search on ping lists. I don't remember there being one for military history.

My Granddaddy was in the Navy in WW I, my Dad was in the Army Air Force in WW II, my Uncle was in the Navy in WW II, and another Uncle was in the Air Force in the Korean War. I was in the Service during the late Vietnam era but served stateside. So yes, I guess I'm interested in both modern and pre-20th century military history.

The old Freeper Foxhole ping list would overlap with this one. Since it isn't very active right now, you might want to ask SamWolf or Snippy_about_it if they'd like to ping their people to one of your threads to see if they are interested in signing up for your ping list.

6th and 5th GGrandfathers in the Revolutionary War. 2nd GGrandfather in the Civil War. Uncle in WWII. Uncle in Vietnam. And I've been in the service since 1980. Think my favorite time period is Civil War, followed by Rev War.
