Military History Ping List (New)
Free Republic and Military/Historical References ^ | 16-Dec-05 | Self

Posted on 12/16/2005 8:59:06 AM PST by indcons

Some of us are looking for a specific ping list that discusses military history topics primarily. The focus of such a ping list would be on historical military commanders, wars, battles, strategies, tactics, and the like (as opposed to current military topics). At present, we have not been able to find such a list though there is quite a bit of intereest among FReepers.

If you would like to join the new "Military History" ping list, please reply to FReeper indcons.

TOPICS: History; Military/Veterans; Reference
KEYWORDS: armies; godsgravesglyphs; greatgenerals; milhist; militaryhistory; war; warandpeace

Please add me!

BTW, the FReeper Foxhole focuses on American military history, but there is no longer a daily post.

I need another ping list like a hole in the head (smile), but this is too good to pass up. Sign me up!

I'm interested in Civil War history, General George Armstrong Custer, T. E. Lawrence, the French Foreign Legion, and Alexander the Great.

There are several threads that have the ping lists listed. Do a title search on ping lists. I don't remember there being one for military history.

My Granddaddy was in the Navy in WW I, my Dad was in the Army Air Force in WW II, my Uncle was in the Navy in WW II, and another Uncle was in the Air Force in the Korean War. I was in the Service during the late Vietnam era but served stateside. So yes, I guess I'm interested in both modern and pre-20th century military history.

"Ping!"

I assume you want to be on the ping list, FReeper Toadman.

Done, welcome to the MilHist ping list. I'll ping y'all to the two threads that were posted today in a few minutes.

Thanks for the info, FOG724. I did a search on the "list of ping lists" and a couple of other places (incl. some useful FReeper homepages). You're right....there is no MilHist ping list.
