Why don't we go ahead and clear out everyone on death row? Let's make a concerted effort to settle all the cases and carry out the sentences within the next 6 months. No more delays...review the appeals...dispense the verdict and be done with it. That way we could consolidate all the death row facilities down to a few empty cells in San Quentin. As new inmates come in, we grant them a fair and SPEEDY trial.
cal gets 20-30 new death sentences per year and we execute one every 18 months or more. There are now 600+ on death row and some of the appeals are taking 24 years. No candidates ever run on doing something about this idiotic process.
