Considering that the "latest" Osama Tape could be as much as a year old. It's possible that the Super Bowl could be a potential target.

So could LAX, The Pentagon, Washington, DC; any nuclear powerplant or myriad Targets Of Opportunity.

In other words, Business As Usual, Post September 11th.

Jack.

They can just detonate Windsor and get Detroit as collateral

"American Hiroshima" has nothing to do with a dirty bomb, IMHO. A dirty bomb is too unwieldly, too uncertain as to the amount of damage/contamination could occur. "Hirsohima" took many more lives that an dirty bomb could.

With Iran so close to getting the material to build its own atomic weaponry, and given their patience, I don't see a nuclear terrorist event occuring on our soil at this time. It would be much less trouble for Iran to simply build a suitcase nuke and give it to bin Laden for the proxy destruction of an American city.

I would go out on a limb and say that any Al Qaeda attacks on American soil at this point would be of the conventional variety, but perhaps with a Chem or Bio component (which would of course make it non-conventional). Specifically, I'm guessing we're going to see our first overt AQ suicide bombings on American soil. And it's going to happen quickly, and preferably (for Iran) before any conflicts between Israel and Iran. It may even be used as the lynchpin to start a Mid-East war - e.g. a quasi-Archduke Ferdinand scenario where AQ attacks the U.S. and the U.S. decides to retaliate against Iran...

Don't doubt for one second that AQ, Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah aren't in concert here. They're brewing the perfect storm, and with Hamas taking over in Palestinian territories, the cake might be ready to bake.

If an attack happens in Detroit during the Superbowl, it hits at multiple fronts. First, it would be broadcasted live. Second, it hits at something (Superbowl) very American. And third, if the attack is large enough, it hits American automobile industry.

Worrisome...

You brought up some eye opening facts that I was unaware of and I thank you for posting this. Actually I have been concerned ever since 9/11 that a Super Bowl could be a target. I pray it is not the case but with these crazed terrorist you never know what is in their minds.

As far as the student at OKU, I always wondered why it was announced so suddenly that it was a suicide and attention was shifted away from the incident just as quickly.

el-Shukrijumah and his associates reportedly wasted no time in gaining access to the nuclear reactor and stealing more than 180 pounds of nuclear waste for the creation of radiological bombs.”

Okay, let's distinguish between the low tech Dirty Bomb (which is really nothing more than radiological waste product wrapped around conventional high explosive) and a real nuclear device. Setting off a small nuke within a few thousand yards of the Superbowl wipes out the game and mostly everybody within a five square mile area, depending on the mass of the explosion. More KT (Kilotons) means more destruction. More threat of the truly deadly gamma radiation. More effect of the EMP on area electronic systems.

The biggest threat for the so called "dirty bomb" is the blast itself for those right on top of it. The rest depends on wind drift and the DECON plans for first responders. The big consequence is the propaganda value and that would affect a perceived impact on the economy.

I'm more worried about the State of the Union Address.

Here are some quotes from a similar thread at the America's Most Wanted website: http://forums.prospero.com/n/main.asp?qu=osama&webtag=foxamw&ctx=search&cl=692934&af=31&o=relevance&be=0

"This threat is to be taken very seriously somethings going on. I live near the Canadian border and LE and all of them are in full force."

"Watch for any type of strange activity, men, vans, anything you see and call the police and report it. Buses, trains, airports, building, anything that don't seem right report it. We hope and pray nothing happens. "

"Heed to warning, attack to come, check predictions on pink and purple site. Plan for Middle East to turn against US and Allies, leave Saudi Arabia, within 6 months ans comes from within, propane trucks and 10 suitcases, mass attack. Beware!"

"This is old news to me and another here as we were picking up on something for a few months, we gave our feelings to those that count. They are in their stages of arming their suicide killers. Several American cities to be hit at one time. Possible use of American and British citizens for attacks. Watch for foriegn families leaving US and leaving sons and husbands behind, suspects."

Hopefully G.W.Bush has alerted the muslim heads of state that any use of WMD's on US territory will trigger a nuclear response against their holy cities of mecca and medina. Muslim heads of state pull the strings (i.e., are the puppeteers) of international terrorism.

What I find more scary is the idea of someone taking a Learjet or other similar civilian aircraft packing it full of explosives and crashing it into a stadium. Usually these types of small planes need not file a flight plan and even if they do it would only take a couple of minutes to leave your flight plan and go on a suicide mission.

I honestly think there is no way to stop this kind of terror act even if we wanted to.

This not the first article with the suggestion, although it is more thought out than most. With TV advertising going for multi millions a minute, the economic impact would be hugh.
