It was unfortunate that Dick Cheney had to go and shoot a lawyer. Really. He gets a lot of criticism for waiting several hours to tell the public about it. I wonder how it would be if he were a Democrat, would he have spoken up any quicker?

Quite a contrast - of course, if the hypothetical timeline continued, "President" Cheney gets impeached nut not convicted, so I'm not sure which is better (although the phrase "President Cheney in 2008" sure has a nice ring to it ; )

If Cheney were Clinton, lots of talking heads would be saying that "This is his personal life and an accident, lets move on."

Chances are good that a Democrat wouldn't have one of those "scary things that go boom" and "kill" people and things.
Seriously, there is a lot of hypocrisy coming from the Left.

I wonder how it would be if he were a Democrat, would he have spoken up any quicker?Nope, if at all, and he would've been praised for being so concerned about not divulging any medical information regarding the shooting victim since privacy is such a grave concern these days......

I think the whole incident is very unfortunate, and hard to spin into anything remotely good.
If VP Gore had ever shot someone, we all would have jumped over that stupid idiot. You know that's true.
With Cheney, my impulse is to say that it's minor. Accidents happen. Let's move on. I feel embarassed that I feel that way.
I think Cheney notified the police, the White House, and the local press with due diligence.
I also feel that being slow to talk to a big name in the media was a politically foolish mistake. It just could have been handled better.
